“Not a 4* hotel!”
Reviewed 2 August 2014 via mobile

I recently stayed for 3 nights on a package in this hotel. I was spending 3 nights in Gweedore catching up with friends. We had a deluxe room which had 2 double beds and was very spacious. The beds were very comfortable but had blankets instead of duvets which is a turn off for me. Decor in the room was dated. The bathroom was large but basic with no products available except for a bar of soap!
The carpet in the room was stained as was the one in the hallway.
We had dinner included with our package which we took the first night. Despite booking dinner when we checked in, the dining room had no record of it. We were facilitated however. The dining room was dark and dismal as was the food. The main course of monkfish was the worst I have had in a long time. It was so tough, it was actually in edible. The sticky toffee pudding dessert was lovely however.
Breakfast the next morning was more of the same. Very limited fruit, Lidl yoghurts, self service for the fry up. Help yourself to tea, coffee and make your own toast. No pasteries or croissants. Breakfast was in the main function room with a few tables scattered around and covered in paper table cloths.
This is not what one would expect from a 4* hotel. The only redeeming factors were the lovely view of Errigal from the front of the hotel and the super leisure centre.
This is a hotel on its knees and only barely keeping its head above water. We noticed quite a number of hotels actually closed in the adjacent vicinity and there were few tourists around , considering that this was the height of the tourist season.

Can't believe I'm only getting around to this now. We had our wedding here on the 17th May. Everything from the moment we met Lewis to the morning after the big day was smooth and easy.

The hotel was a pleasure to deal with, nothing was too much trouble and they never made you feel like you were causing them any hassle. All the staff I dealt with in the running up to the wedding was helpful and friendly.

We checked in on the Friday before the wedding. It was so relaxed. We had requested rooms away from each other to allow us to get ready in the morning of the wedding. We got what we requested. The only tiny thing was that they didn't provide room service and if your a bride you don't want to be seen the morning while your getting ready. But a lot of hallway monitoring and time negotiations with the groom it all worked out.

Me and the maids got our hair and make up done in the Serenity Hair and Beauty salon in the hotel. It was lovely. The make up was flawless and hair looked lovely. They done exactly what we wanted.

The rooms were spacious and allowed for the three of us to get ready and not feel we were on top of each other. The water was hot for a shower the rooms were heated to nice temperature. Beds were comfortable.

We got married in the hotel the room was set up like you wouldn't even know there was a bar in it. The views from the windows are gorgeous over looking the Clady river.

Then after the ceremony the lounge area was set up beautifully. We had a sweet table and photo booth all fitted in nicely and placed well.

The staff turned around the room quickly for the reception. It was stunning. We were seated for dinner and the service was flawless everything timed well and the meal was delicious. I'm still getting rave reviews from guests saying it was the best food they had tasted. The husband even got thirds. They cater for allergies and in tolerances so well. I had quite a number of gluten free guests and they said the menu options were excellent. They felt included and not like they were being an annoyance.

The room then was turned around again really quickly for the evening reception. We got to see to bridal suite. The bed was massive the room looked so nice and elegant. The view was lovely. When we came back the party was in full swing. All the guest were happy. We danced the night away. Then had the evening buffet which was really good.

Check out was easy and breakfast in the morning was nice to see everyone still enjoying all the company. We got help with all our belonging to the car. They held our wedding cards in the safe for us no trouble at all.

To this day both friends and family keep saying how lovely the day was and how great the hotel was. Me and Graeme would like to thank every single member of staff that day for everything you guys done. It was an amazing and memorable day and we couldn't of done any of it without you. Thank you again.

Attended a wedding here in June 2014. We were bringing our two children and my wife's parents so wanted two rooms, I had initially requested two adjoining rooms, but was advised to call closer to the time to arrange that. Called two days before, and they arranged for us to have the two adjoining rooms. We also wanted to check in early, around 12pm as the wedding was at 1pm, so the children could be fed and put to bed for a nap. We were advised to call when we were on the way. When we called, we were told that our room would be ready when we arrived, which it was.

The staff were incredibly helpful, possibly the most helpful staff I have encountered in any hotel. The room itself was very large, with two double beds, and then plenty of space in the room for table and chairs, the cot which was added, and it still had plenty of floor space for our oldest boy to play.

Scenery around the hotel is wonderful!!

The price for the room was quite good considering it was a Friday night in June, however I have stayed in similar hotels for less. There is a pool, spa, and a children's play area, none of which we used.

If you are planning a trip to Donegal, and want somewhere to stay for a few nights, look no further than An Chuirt!

Room Tip: Ask for a room overlooking the river with a view of Errigal.

I was so impressed by the quality, quantity and the reasonable prices of their bar menu recently (18th June) that I returned the following evening to try more. No wonder this place was full on both nights. Definitely worth a trip, but be sure to have a good appetite to satisfy!

Dropped in here recently for a meal, ( I was starving) The lady at reception was grumpy and snarled at me that there was only bar food available. I made my way to the bar and ordered steak and mash with garlic butter sauce from a friendly staff member.
I waited and waited then waited some more finally my steak arrived with FRIES and a lump of butter swimming around in a very hot gravy boat with some shavings of garlic thrown in.
I sawed my way through the steak paid and left.
Will I be back
NEVER

Room Tip: Keep on driving

This is a really lovely hotel, set in stunning scenery. The rooms are large, airy and spacious and the fitness centre and pool well equipped. The pool has a hydrotherapy section which was wonderful. The only minor complaint was that the music played constantly ( and I mean CONSTANTLY) throughout our stay was Rod Stewart's greatest hits. There are only so many times I can listen to 'Sailing' without wanting to commit an act of violence...

This hotel is the complete antidote to Benidorm, Teneriffe etc. Charmingly eccentric in the Irish style but not overstated in any way. Friendly staff - ask for Grainne. My room was clean and well appointed with en suite facilities.Breakfast in the Ulster fashion is enough to last a trencherman 'til dinner time Room service even at busy times was fast and efficient..The local scenery is breathtaking - hills, mountains , cliffs and sea views. All in all a very enjoyable stay. Bring your tired body to the adjoining hydrotherapy complex and be pampered or take your camera to the nearby sights either way you will enjoy.

Room Tip: smokers are catered for
