We have been coming to this hotel for the last ten years on our way to and from the south of France.
It is in a very pretty location alongside the river Creuse near to Argenton.
It is very good value,.and the food is excellent. The rooms are spotless. All rooms have A/C and T.V.
The family always make you feel welcome.
When we first came the hotel was 2* and is now a 3*.
They have improved the hotel year to year. The first time we arrived there were only rooms in the main building. This was a little difficult for anyone with mobility problems, as the stairs were steep.
The second year we came back, they had purchased some houses next door making this a small annexe and turned them into family rooms and also a room for people with disabilities including wheelchair access and a wet room. The next year an extension to the dining room was added, doubling the capacity.
The following year a swimming pool was added.
The year after a roll back enclosure was added to the pool for when the sun doesn't shine along with a spa/jacuzzi. and loungers. Lovely.
The rooms in the annexe have a small terrace with table and chairs which lead directly to the pool.
Then another year the front terrace to the hotel was remodeled making dining alfresco much more possible. Also the rooms in the main hotel were remodeled to include a large family room with a large terrace.
This year we found a larger back patio had been added by the side of the pool.
We wonder what next!
Should I be writing this review as I would like to keep it a secret, however when something is good we need to say so.

Room Tip: All of the rooms are of a good clean standard, but for those with mobility problems the rooms in the...

The position of this hotel makes it excellent for a stopover. We chose it for this purpose on the way down through France and again, a fortnight later, on the way back up. On both occasions we were in the annexe rooms. There is plenty of parking, a good covered, heated swimming pool and friendly, helpful staff. There is little English spoken but the hotel, restaurant and bar are so well run little is needed. The annexe rooms were very clean with separate toilets and bathrooms. The rooms have patio doors which open out onto little balconies (upstairs) and little patios (downstairs) but there are metal screens/grills which you can close down outside the doors for security at night if you wished to. The nearby town of Argenton sur Creuse has a few restaurants and the old part is very pretty and well worth a walk around but the town is a bit run down and does struggle a bit with traffic. The hotel is on a quiet road with hardly any traffic noise. We would definitely use this hotel again and can recommend.

Just a couple of km outside the charming little town of Argenton. The woman who runs this hotel is extremely friendly and helpful. We were given a family room in the annex, even though there were just two of us. The room opened out on to a little patio and 5 metros farther was the pool. A lovely, large, heated pool. I forget the exact dimensions but I believe the pool is at least 10 m by 4 m. It has a glass roof but as it is open-ended you don't feel shut in. Towels were provided at the poolside. We will definitely ask for a room in the annex the next time we stop there. We took the €18 menu at the restaurant and found it good value for money.

This is a Logis hotel and has all the good qualities of this group; family run, with good food and comfortable rooms. There is ample parking, though no closed garage, but the location is quiet. The welcome is warm and the owners are very kind. Our room was spacious, and fully equipped for wheelchair access if necessary. The swimming pool was a few steps away. We enjoyed our dinner in the hotel restaurant, and the buffet breakfast was good, with lovely home-made jams! We hope to stay again soon.

Room Tip: Room 11 is fully equipped for wheelchair access. It sleeps 4, with double bed and 2 bunk beds.

The place has all we need as a family of 3 persons: Spacious bedroom for 3 persons, parking at location and a good quality restaurant (the local entrecote was amazing). The pool was very refreshing after hours crossing Paris Peripherique and the staff was very friendly.
Perfect location once you have cross Paris direction Toulouse

We stayed here for 3 nights visiting the European Water Ski Racing finals on the nearby Lake Eguzon. So did several other participants, some on their 4th or 5th visit.
A warm welcome from the owning family, we were shown to our room which was spotlessly clean, light and airy with a decent sized balcony. The Hotel, Restaurant, and Pool (dome covered in times of inclement weather) are likewise well maintained. All the staff were friendly and helpful, the ambiance is suitably French and the setting is reasonable.
Breakfast is pretty good with bacon & eggs available as a supplement, Dinner also has a reasonable menu range, our only slight problem was with the amount of garlic that the chef uses in several of his dishes, too much for our tastes but otherwise well cooked and presented.
We noticed several families and couples using the hotel as a one night stopover en route elsewhere, a service for which it is excellently suited.
Disabled access is pretty good, with dedicated rooms available.
We will definitely be coming here again.

Room Tip: The annex rooms have private balconies or small courtyards and access to the pool is easy.

L´Escapade hotel & restaurant is located at the D48 road in Le Pêchereau just south of Argenton-sur-Creuse about 3kms from the A20 highway l´Occitane. The hotel is in a calm area.

The hotel is relatively new and has a friendly atmosphere. The hotel is family operated since 1979. Staffs are welcoming and correct. The hotel has an adequate restaurant serving good food at a reasonable price. There is a heated, glass-covered swimming pool. Argenton-sur-Creuse railway station is at 2 km and the Gallo-Roman site of Argentomagus is at 4 km.

Our room was of reasonable size, adequately furnished and decorated, well kept and comfortable. The room had OK beds, a flat screen TV set hanging from the wall, a safe-box and a small table & chair. We had a spacious private bathroom with washbasin, hairdryer, toilet, heated towel-rail and shower. No coffee & tea making facility in the room. Our room actually sleeps four, with a double bed in the bedroom and two bunks in the entry room. The bedroom-doors open into a small private terrace. All was very clean.

Free parking in front of the door. Complimentary Wi-Fi Internet. To get onto the web you have to log-in providing your name, room number and email address. The procedure is time-consuming and fails so often that it becomes awkward. Buffet style breakfast is good.

Perfect for a one (or two) night stopover. Note that L´Escapade is not a bargain. We would recommend this hotel to anyone who seeks a good night sleep and a good continental breakfast.
