“A great place to stay”
Reviewed 5 August 2013 for a stay in July 2013

We were really happy with everything : the situation, the house and its Equipment, and above all, by Stefanos, Roula and Catarina's hospitality. We already think about coming back next year !

“Exactly what we hoped for.”

We stayed in Thalia from 11th to 25th Sept 2012. Our plan was to spend half the time chilling out around the pool and villa, enjoying what looked superb surroundings, half touring Crete, especially the historic sites, which was a long term ambition.
Crete was special. We are already planning trips 2 and 3 to see things we missed - and to spend more time on those beaches. Elafonisi in the SW is to die for, more Indian Ocean than Med. The history we barely touched, everywhere you look a 'must do' ancient site.
The villa and site were perfect for us, space enough to get privacy when you needed it and the layout of the pools good for catching up with the neighbours. The taverna church and cave system also add some local interest. We hired a car for the fortnight and you do need it to make the best of the holiday.
Stefanos and Roula were the perfect hosts (hope your knee is better), we virtually followed their recommendations for places to see, swim, eat and drink - lovely welcoming people.

“Best family holiday yet!”

We have just returned from St George's Retreat having had a fantastic two weeks. Echoing all the other comments, Stefanos and Roula made a great holiday a fantastic one. Their warmth and hospitality made us feel at home from the moment we arrived, and little things such as turning up unexpectedly with delicious pastries and treats, made it a very special stay. They hosted two big BBQs while we were there and provided all the food which was incredibly generous. The accommodation was excellent and the views across the bay from Erato were spectacular. Our two young girls loved making friends with the other guests and spent many happy hours jumping in and out of the pools. The addition of a small 'baby' pool was a real bonus and meant that our youngest could splash around quite happily without us having to accompany her all the time. The beaches are beautiful with crystal clear water and very safe for young children. All in all, I couldn't recommend it highly enough and we're already talking about a return visit next year.

“Fantastic, peaceful, family friendly, beautiful views and wonderful owners”
Reviewed 27 August 2012 for a stay in August 2012

Stayed with my husband and 12 year old daughter. Apart from going to the supermarket, into the local town of plaka for a few meals there really wasn't a need to leave. 2 fantastic pools. Fabulous villas, stunningly breathtaking views. New taverna opened up at the top of the hill food is great but needs a few more Greek dishes on the menu. Stefanos & Roula are wonderful people. Arrived to beer, olive oil, fresh juice, water, bread, fresh fruit, ham, cheese, bread and homemade cake. Knock at he door one evening, freshly made stuffed courgette flowers and baklava. I really cannot recommend this place enough. Thanks again stefanos
& roula

“One place you must experience!”
Reviewed 4 June 2012 for a stay in May 2012

Friendly, family run retreat with exceptional service.
The villas are tastefully decorated and ideally situated with a mountain backdrop and sea views. Everything has been thought of and supplied, from the corkscrew to the washing machine.
This retreat is for the young and old as everyone is catered for. There are two swimming pools and a child's pool as well as a children's playground. A stone BBQ is also available for your use.
You need to rent a car to get to the retreat and for access to the local supermarket and nearby beach.
Thoroughly recommend it.

“Outstanding hospitality and thoughtfulness from villa owners”

We stayed a week at St George's, and what makes it shine like a beacon compared to other villas in northern Crete is the kindness and warmth of the owners, Stefanos and Roula. The houses are beautifully decorated and immaculately clean. Each villa has several terraces with views down the mountain to Souda Bay, and the property is set in an orchard of pomegranates, plums, figs and apples, which guests are encouraged to pick and eat. There's a welcoming bottle of wine, the fridge is stocked with essentials, and Stefanos and his wife are on hand to make sure you lack for nothing. Their knowledge of local history brings an added dimension and understanding of the character of this region, which has been fought over for centuries. But now, apart from the sound of sheep bells and ravens, or the occasional passing plane heading for Chania airport, there's absolute tranquillity - so the only caveat is that if you want to explore beyond the immediate vicinity, a car is pretty well essential. And these wonderful hosts can sort that out for you too.
