Chris and Sue have created a wonderfully warm and welcoming space for those of us who appreciate getting away from our day to day living with all its associated stresses and distractions. Each time I’ve stayed at Langcliffe House I’ve left feeling enriched, nourished and reminded of what’s important to me - friendship, nature and time to explore. Every visit feels like a homecoming.

Immediately on our arrival we were drawn into the warmth and friendliness of Sue and Chris. The house is beautiful and the view stunning. The greeting, hospitality and experience of our stay felt like one shared between life long friends. The Dales is fabulous!

Myself and my girlfriend stayed here for two nights over the Bank Holiday weekend and couldn't fault anything at all. The hosts are marvellous, the place has a wonderful personal touch and absolutely everything was perfect.

Highly recommended.

Susan and Chris are absolute stars, we couldn't have been looked after better! Not only are the breakfasts really good (nothing but the highest quality ingredients including home grown raspberries and strawberries), we enjoyed afternoon tea and cake twice at no extra charge and Chris was even kind enough to by us some polenta as I'd explained our local supermarket doesn't stock it.
The house is very tastefully decorated with loads of Susan's great paintings adorning the walls. The views from our room and from the delightful garden stretch all the way down Wharfedale.
We felt we were on the same wavelength as our hosts and enjoyed some good banter during our 3 night stay. They are both extremely helpful and Chris has an encyclopedic knowledge of the local pubs!
Such a shame they're booked for the Tour de France weekend next July but we'll be back for another slice of hospitality (and cake!) sometime soon.

Room Tip: There are only 2 rooms with just one having views down the valley

We had such a warm and cheerful welcome in our arrival. The house is grand but homely with fantastic artwork on display. The bed was so soft and breakfast delicious!!! We enjoyed Susan and Chris' company and they were more than just good host's. The setting is right in the heart of the dales. We didn't want to leave!

We arrived at Chris and Susan's little slice of Yorkshire-on-Eden after a mammoth Friday afternoon slog up the motorways from London. Not at all bothered by our late arrival, they were as welcoming as you would ever hope anyone to be, handed over a key and packed us off to the pub. On our return, there was just enough mid-summer gloaming to take in the colourful delight that is the walls of their house, dotted, as they are, with Susan's paintings. Susan offers portrait sittings during your stay, but on this occasion the roll of the dales (and the pub-induced hangover) called for an immediate walk after a fulsome breakfast the next morning. Routes recommended, and lifts/pick-ups offered, the surrounding countryside presented a stiff enough challenge that the lemon polenta cake and pots of tea on our return were a welcome pick-me-up.

Chris and Susan are a charming, interesting couple and they made a huge effort to make us feel welcome in their home. We so enjoyed talking to them over coffee in the morning sunshine before breakfast, and appreciated their advice and knowledge of the local area. We enthusiastically recommend this as a wonderful place to stay.

Room Tip: Two rooms, both lovely but the blue has stunning views

3 of us stayed here for 2 nights, it should have been longer. Beautiful stone house in the beautiful village of Kettlewell. Sue welcomed us with tea, cake and clotted cream, mmmm! Sue & Chris are great hosts, nothing is a bother. Chris had many suggestions on walks in the area, even offering to drop off or pick up. The breakfast was delicious and I needed a good walk in the dales to work off the "full English". The beds and bedding are luxurious and so comfortable.

Room Tip: The blue room for the beautiful view.
