There are three pubs in Kettlewell and everyone has their favourite it seems. Kettlewell is a stunning village nestled in the middle of wharfedale in the Dales and a wonderful place to visit.

We ate at the Racehorse twice in the week we stayed, there is nothing fabulous to report nor is there anything poor to report. Decent local beer on the pump, perfectly clean and tidy inside, tables outside if the unpredictable weather allows, and the food is very bog standard pub fare, nothing special but perfectly ok - fish and chips, steak and ale pie, scampi and chips, steaks etc etc.

Service was friendly enough (a few reports on here about rude service but we didn't experience that). nice Slovakian girl was working there at the time we visited and she was perfectly pleasant and welcoming.

Stopped for one drink, not a good atmosphere, didn't feel welcome. We sat outside as the bar area seemed unwelcoming, just a feeling, plenty of tables to choose from as everyone else seemed to be at the Blue Bell

We ate at this hotel in the evening. The food was good hearty straight forward pub food, as another reviewer has said. E.g. pate, whitebait type starters and gammon/pineapple, curry , veg stroganoff type mains. Friendly service. The children's menu was very limited so my nieces ate from the adult menu. After the village Duck Race event in the afternoon, we sat outside, drank and enjoyed several troupes of morris dancers performing a dance off in the streets. Excellent country life!!

Ate lunch there with my wife and mother on a very busy Saturday in Kettlewell due to the Mayfest. Could not find a parking spot in village but saw space the Racehorses car park. Thought we might get told off but landlord was so welcoming we decided to have lunch there. Nothing fancy but great food, very fresh, well cooked and reasonable prices. All staff very friendly and great service. Cracking Tim Taylors as well. Would recommend.

Everyone catered for and very busy - say no more? The food and service here is superb- a typical Yorkshire Dales hotel.
