“Solid value for the money”

The Reef Resort is on the quiet side of the island, far from 7 mile beach and George Town. You WILL need to rent a vehicle. The fact that all rooms are oceanfront is a huge plus, and the beach is very quiet. The rooms are very nice. It's not the Ritz-Carlton, but comparable to a Courtyard Marriott or Hilton Garden Inn in the states (Remember, you're not paying Ritz-Carlton prices either). There is a restaurant on-site, a Subway at the resort, and a good Italian restaurant across the street, but other than that the dining out options are somewhat limited. There is a grocery store directly across the street, and since the rooms have kitchenettes, that's a good option for some meals and snacks. Safety is a non-issue here, as walking at night is safer than walking on the streets of most American suburbs. Overall I was very pleased with the resort. Staff was great and I very much enjoy the quietness of this side of the island. It only takes a half-hour to get to George Town and 7 mile beach if you want more activities and/or restaurant options (tip: get a small fuel efficient vehicle, since gasoline tops $7 per gallon).

We had a pleasant stay at the Reef Resort on Grand Cayman: professional and cheerful staff at front desk, conceirge, and restaurant / bar. The beach was ideal: soft sand, clear water and easy access to decent snorkeling. Food was quite good but not inexpensive. Only negative comment is that their "studio suite" is really a very small room with a fridge and microwave: no desk, table, or sitting area, only one chair, tiny bathroom, and a rather inconveniently located hot tub in the middle. Not really a "suite" based on experience at other hotels and resorts. As noted in other reviews, the balcony is effectively "shared" with your neighbors: no privacy, just a low railing. If you enjoy space to move around in, a one bedroom rather than studio would be a better chorice.

Room Tip: Try a 1 bedroom is you want a table, full kitchen, or space to sit. Avoid rooms overlooking the po...

After doing extensive research, The Reef Resort was exactly what we expected & desired. Far Eastern end of the Island, private with just the right amount of amenities. Two beautiful pools, one with a permanent volleyball net set-up. Jacuzzi, daily activities, nightly entertainment (low key), a convenient Subway (tiny) outside the lobby. You can purchase time on their PC's (which are located inside the Subway in a private area) for CI $2.80 for thirty minutes. The Reef is perfect for snorkeling since it is right off the beach, many species to be seen with wide variety. We were in the farthest building (away from Morritts) and it was perfect. Every suite is ocean view. Across the street is a medium sized "Foster's" grocery store with everything one could possibly need, a liquor store and a very nice "Italian Kitchen" restaurant. Make great pasta and pizza (yes it is good Pizza, I'm originally from NY) with decent prices. A average pie is about $18.00 and pasta dishes range from $16.-23.00, nightly fish specials too. The staff at the Reef are very courteous and sweet, bartenders, wait staff, Yoga instructor, housekeeping were all very welcoming and helpful. East end restaurants are close by but I would deff. recommend a car rental to explore this gorgeous Island and see all the hidden spots they have to offer. Enjoy, we will be returning to the Reef Resort!!

Room Tip: It was just my husband and myself and found the regular room to be sufficient. Simple cook area and...

We stayed here for a week in April 2013. We have stayed at quite a few other resorts as well; this is by far our favorite-we have been here 3 times before. It is not crowded (which means there are plenty of lounge chairs on the beach). The food is very good The drinks are not watered down. The entire resort, from rooms to gym to beach is very clean. The staff is very friendly and will assist in any way possible. If something is not right or not to your liking-tell them and they will take care of it.The concierges have helped us to make plans for several day trips and really spent some time with us on at least 2 occasions when problems popped up (having to do with lost luggage and late transportation).
You do need flippers or water shoes to swim here. The beach has quite a few rocky spots and is uneven at places. The rocks, coral and holes make for lots of fish and really good snorkeling.
We really love it here. Very relaxing but there are things to do. Guests are usually very pleasant. We highly recommend The Reef. We'll be going back ASAP!

Wonderful resort...all the reviews I read said this resort was great and I would say" Book here! Best meal on the island was "steak night at the reef." Seven mile beach is beautiful but much more crowded and busy...this place was serene....

Found heaven on earth at The Reef. The most tranquil, serene, secluded, peaceful resort ever. Working full time raising six kids in New York after a week at The Reef w my daughter I was completely refreshed, invigorated, revitalized and destressed. The beachfront suites were amazing and the view was spectacular. The snorkeling was outstanding. The rooms were immaculate and plenty of towels. The staff was just wonderful Oshane was the best Rocky, Suzie and Tonia went above and beyond. The gym was great. Dinner on the beach was cool and the Caribbean barbecue had great food. Alan, Dave and Raphael from White Sands were an added bonus and gave us fun, exciting and very memorable ocean adventures. Having vacationed at some of the top five star resorts in the Caribbean I was still blown away by how special this place was. It is truly a treasure. I'm not surprised at how wonderful everything was after having had the pleasure of meeting the sweet man who runs it, Gaetan Bobbin you are doing an awesome job. Make sure to rent a car and hit The Cayman Taffy Store to bring back some yummy taffy, chocolates and caramel popcorn for friends back home.

We stayed in a condo on the ground level and it was fantastic! The beach was clean and it was very peaceful. The pool was nice as well. Loved the restaurant on the beach!!!! It is worth it to rent a car so you can explore the island.
