Beautiful accommodations, great food BUT Cathy and Jake are awful in the concierge department. It took over 86 emails to plan two outings and transportation to and from the resort with Cathy. She constantly got dates wrong, number of people in our party incorrect and so many other details! She promised us two free Stingray City tickets and then sent us an email the day before we left and said we did not qualify! I spoke to Jake her manager and he was just down right rude. He told me he would buy me a drink because it sounds like that would make me happy - which made no sense because he knew we were on the all inclusive plan!! I would go back again, but use the concierge named Daina. She is AWESOME! She fixed all of the mistakes and is a huge asset to The Reef!!

We booked a last minute vacation to the Grand Cayman Islands and stumbled upon The Reef Resort. I have never written a review before, but felt I had to write this one. We returned yesterday and I miss this place already! The Reef Resort is amazing! We rented a car from Andy's next to the airport and took the scenic drive from the crowded seven mile to the beautiful east end. Upon arrival, we were greeted with delicious rum drinks and virgin rum drinks for our kids. The staff was friendly, the resort was clean and welcoming. The views from our room were stunning. Every room is ocean front and my kids loved sleeping in the twin beds that pulled out of the wall! We loved waking up to the sounds of the ocean, the smell of the sea and the views. Weather was always perfect in the east end. There was plenty of activities to do. Snorkeling was a daily event, as the Reef had great snorkeling right in front of our room (bring water shoes and snorkel gear). All of our excursions were perfect for our family. Not touristy or over crowded. The concierge was helpful in making sure we had small group tours to stingray city (a must), Bioluminescent kayak tour (only offered two weeks in the month), deep sea fishing for my husband and son, while my daughter and I did Yoga on the beach. Having a rental car allowed us the freedom to visit rum point, turtle farm, shop and sight see. We loved Tukka, a beautiful restaurant on the water (go early to feed the birds and fish). While we were visiting, we had the rare opportunity to help baby turtles into the ocean. If you want, peace, relaxation, adventure, breathtaking views, unlimited activities, a kitchen in your room (great for kids), awesome beach barbecue at the resort (don't miss it), friendly staff, a clean and safe environment, The Reef is the place to stay! It is not for people who like the busy touristy environment. It's for people who like adventure, relaxation, friendly and helpful staff and a slice of heaven. Thank you Reef Resort. We love this place! We will be back!

I stayed at the Reef for one night. I arrived early and was given my room despite the 4:00 check in.
The room was 'old' and the furniture was falling apart. It was a bit unkept, and I had ants in my room, but the Jacuzzi in the middle was a perfect touch.
The view is amazing, and the staff are friendly.

Room Tip: Choose a deluxe studio, to get the jacuzzi

Every single staff member that we met was very nice and accommodating. Not in a fake way, they were able genuine! They do everything they can to make your stay enjoyable! Between all of the activities and things to do on the island and the activities that the hotel puts on, we never had a dull moment! If you are wanting to just relax, that does not disappoint either! Absolutely beautiful, private beach along with a bar (which also serves amazing food) on the beach! It's been 2 years since we have been and still remember our trip and how amazing it was. Hoping to go back with our children one day. We truly fell in love. A must do is the sunrise stingray sandbar (if it's still an option) most amazing experience! Thank you to The Reef Hotel for an incredible experience that we have not nor will we ever forget!

We loved our trip to Grand Cayman and glad we spent our time on the east end as it is so quiet. The beach is great, grounds nice the staff friendly. Building is in decent shape-nothing fancy though but who cares as long as the view is beautiful which it is. Snorkeling under the dock is great. Diving next door at Tortuga Divers. Here is the down side-Walls are thin, No maid service except for taking the garbage-unless you want to pay extra, $10/day tax, but to make it worse when we checked out we were billed $145 utilities fee and when we questioned the bill they showed us an unsigned document and stated we saw the form during check in. If we did, we would have singed it with the other documents they had in our file with which did have our signature. In the end I am sure it is legit but it was a bit odd and you would think they would make it obvious what to expect. I will return to Grand Cayman but not to this resort

Dear Brandon B,

Thank you for your review on theReef Resort and for sharing your experience with us. Your comments are golden to us as these will give us the opportunity to rectify any issues to ensure we provide the best possible service to our guests. We are sorry to hear you were not properly informed of the fees as usually you would be informed first by the timeshare exchange company and then again from us during check-in. It is a common practice among resorts in the Cayman Islands to charge the electricity/water usage separate from the maintenance fee due to the high cost of diesel fuel on island that is needed to generate both electricity and water. Whilst it is a common practice and this in place for our timeshare guests, we are sorry and apologize sincerely that you were not informed accordingly, we will certainly review our processes to ensure this will not happen again.

We are currently preparing ourselves to go through a renovation, many new exciting things happening at theReef Resort, we hope you will give us a second chance to make a better impression and we hope to have the opportunity of welcoming you back.

Greetings from theReef Resort team.

My wife and I wanted a warm getaway from the winter weather and this place was the perfect vacation. We wanted unplugged and peaceful and that is just what we got. Friendly staff and one of the best views on earth. We snorkeled right off the beach around the dock and up to the dock at the next resort. Very nice. We also schedule a snorkeling trip with Red Sail for only $25 per person and it is well worth it. We would walk up out of the water to the beach restaurant for a nice lunch with our toes in the sand. I will be back for sure.
