Morritts Tortuga Club and Resort
Reviewed 29 May 2014

We stayed at Morritts Tortuga Club for a week in June 2013. We had an enjoyable time. The building we were in was without an elevator and we were on the third floor. The stairs were loose and became very slick when it rained. The room was a two bedroom that we shared with another couple. The common areas were large and nicely appointed. The internet was unreliable and you are charged for each device that you connect with, so if you want to connect your phone and laptop you will pay for two connections. We have been around the Caribbean and thought that we might have found an inexpensive location for our vacations. This didn't work out as we were charged for things such as electricity in the room. We were also charged taxes that aren't disclosed prior to our arrival. We did enjoy a couple of meals at the restaurant. The price wasn't bad and was offset by the convenience. There is a local grocery store within walking distance that is fun to shop at and in the same plaza are a couple of decent restaurants. The resort was doing construction the entire time we were there. They seemed to be considerate about the hours but the constant hammering of an impact hammer (jackhammer) caused a distraction from the quiet ambiance while were relaxing on the beach or at one of their nicely maintained pools. The buildings are in need of sprucing up and it would be great if they would install elevators for each of their buildings. As divers we had a lot of gear that we had to carry up and down the stairs numerous times. We enjoyed being on the "quiet side" of Grand Cayman and may consider staying on that side again but we would investigate other resorts.

The scenery was beautiful the room outstanding. The construction noise unending! Day and night while we were there. (The building is now complete for the most part) The front desk staff were rude or stand offish at best which really did not help. Would not recommend it. The Reef next door was much more friendly and fun. Some standout people were Elizabeth who cleaned our room and Kenny the entertainment person, who were both absolutely delightful.

We stayed. For. A week Had poor room service Front desk wasn't polite Had construction work around everyday They left a diesel tractor run for an hour the exhaust filled our room we complained they said it's not our problem. They turned it off two hours later same thing happened again This is a possible 3-4 star resort giving 1 star service It's all the little things that they don't do And they don't care about.

We stayed at the Grand Morritt's Resort for a week. All the rooms in our building had ocean views. The rooms were well-maintained and cleaned regularly. They had activities at the beach and pool almost everyday. There were themed dinners every night. Michael, the restaurant manager, was extremely helpful in accommodating us with custom options on the menu, since we are vegetarians. The pools with swim-up bars and the ocean view were great.

This is a spot to have a nice, relaxing time. The tourist spots are on the other side of the island. The concierge desk can make arrangements for snorkeling/diving tours, stingray tours etc. Since this is on the east end of the island, you will need a rental car to get around.

This beautiful resort is at the east end of the island away from the seven mile beach and the crowds. This is our preference to site see when we want or just relax. The resort offers tours from deep sea fishing, turtle farm, shopping in town, swimming with the stingrays, to diving in the ocean on the Atlantis, a great experience. We did it all.
When we returned from deep sea fishing our captain came to our room and cooked the barracuda we caught and lobster from his traps. Finger licking good.
If you love to snorkel this is the place right in front of the resort see all the colours of the ocean, live conch to lobster to huge tarpon. Unbelievable.
We were here for two weeks the first week we stayed in the penthouse. Wow,six patio doors onto a full balcony looking out at the ocean and beautiful sunsets. The second week we moved just behind in a townhouse. The rooms were very clean and fresh even a BBQ by our back door. There is a small mall walking distance from the resort where we bought food for breakfast or lunch small meals. Then we would eat supper here at their beautiful restaurant,so much to choose. We made a reservation to Tukka Restaurant &Bar and try the Kangaroo Steak delicious. They even offer free shuttle transportation. David's is another restaurant serving speciality foods. Explore and try something different.
The resort also offered BBQ parties, food was excellent, great presentation.Ever night there was music, entertainment and dancing so many laughs.
We meet so many nice people in the three pools in the two weeks at this resort.
We would differently go back.

Room Tip: Ask for the penthouse you will not be disappointed. The view is breathtaking.

We recently travelled to Grand Cayman Island and stayed at the Grand Morritt's/Tortuga Club Resort. We really enjoyed our stay there. The beach is beautiful and the 3 pools on property with 2 having swim up bars were delightful. We were welcomed by the staff the second we entered the lobby for check in. The staff was very friendly and attentive to our needs. Andy, the pool bartender at the Tortuga Club made us a welcome drink,a snack and friendly conversation while we were waiting for our room to be available. The room was very clean and well appointed. There are full kitchens and bbq grills on the beach. We were on the 3rd floor overlooking the pool with a partial view of the sea. You have many options with accommodations from studio to 1, 2 and 3 bedrooms. The new Building "The Londoner" is amazing. I hope to stay there on my next trip to Morritt's. We were lucky enough to be there for the Grand Opening Ceremony. We enjoyed the daytime activities as well as the dinner theme nights at David's restaurant on premise. The buffet breakfast was amazing with many choices of food items and Neville and Alden made some delicious omelettes for us daily. The service was impeccable!!! Thank you David, Milford and Tracy. David, Michelle and Robbie made excellent drinks and service with a smile. We enjoyed the dining and entertainment at Mimi's Bar and Cafe in the evening .The light from the restaurant sign cast a beautiful blue light on the water. Both David's and Mimi's Restaurants were amazing with wonderful cuisine and service. The entire staff were so helpful, friendly and attentive. There is lots to do at the resort. There is a shopping center and car rental in walking distance. There are excursions that you can arrange for at the front desk. Thank you all for a wonderful and memorable vacation!! We hope to see you again next year!!!

Room Tip: We stayed on the 3rd floor because we like the views from higher floors but all the rooms overlookin...

My wife and I just got back from our honeymoon and we stayed at Morritt's. We loved every second of it. The resort grounds offer everything you could want; pools, restaurants, grocery near by, subway, snorkeling, wave runners, wind surfing, diving, bars, live music at night, buffets, stand up paddle boards, and friendly staff.

We had a great time and would come back. The only complaint that I have is they add on a few extra charges at the end of your stay. I was expecting the energy bill but I was not expecting to get a $15 a day government tax.

If you are looking for a place with your family or for a romantic getaway I would suggest Morritt's. Being on the east side of the Island was really nice because you were away from all the cruise ship hustle and bustle but it was just a 35 min away.
