“Not as good as we expected”
Reviewed 24 March 2014

This restaurant had great reviews and so perhaps we expected to much, but while the food was good, it was not spectacular. It could be that we had eaten a spectacular meal the night before at Spiga in Grand Case, but we were a little disappointed. Service was slow, but parking was easy and the atmosphere was romantic and quiet.

“excellent meal”
Reviewed 18 March 2014 via mobile

This meal was by far the best so far in Oyster Pond. From the fresh homemade bread to start through to the chocolate crepes to finish . My husband and I both had fresh fish and our girls had chicken and planteur salad. The prices were on par or a bit lower than other restaurants and the service was excellent. The coconut cocktail was also delicious.

“A very good French restaurant at Oyster Bay”
Reviewed 7 March 2014

I can see from previous reviews that opinions about Le Planteur vary. In our experience it was the best restaurant out of four we visited during our stay at Oyster Bay last February. The food was very good, the daiquiri made by Gerard (the owner) the best we had on St. Maartin, and everything else was pleasant too. Good job, Monsieur Gerard.

“i only got salad & dessert”
Reviewed 12 February 2014

both were fabulous - A little different. The salad was fruit with I believe was an Italian dressing but there was some kind of twist that I cant place on the dressing.

“Lovely evening, generous portions”
Reviewed 21 December 2013 via mobile

We had a lovely evening dining at this quaint, family owned spot. The views were terrific, and the atmosphere was charming. The owner/host/waiter was friendly and attentive. When we sat down, he brought warm bread to the table, which was delicious. We started with the snails in puff pastry and French onion soup -- both were divine. The pastry was fresh and flaky and came with so many snails, we almost couldn't finish. The onion soup was phenomenal. Rich, yet light. For the main course, we enjoyed both the scampi and the duck. We completed the meal with the homemade profiteroles. Yum. This is a hidden gem, and while pricey, it was a wonderful dinner.
