We could not have been happier with Private Yacht Charters. Everything about the experience was phenomenal; the crew, the boat, the Business office- there were no weak points in their performance. Our cruise was the first part of May, immediately after high season ended, we sailed to St. Bartholomew for a one day jaunt. The weather was great although that we didn't have much wind for most of the first leg but the return trip was under sail all the way; and the sea state was always perfect.
We were four couples most of which had some sailing experience; my wife and I being the exception. One couple has spent many months sailing the Caribbean and were very impressed with the quality and skill of the crew as well as the maintenance and operation of the boat. Three of our party are marine engineers so they really knew what to look for and had nothing but accolades for the boat and the crew.
About our group; we are pretty energetic and adventurous group of professionals who share a love of travel and vacation, be it on the sea, in the city, or most often on a ski mountain. Perhaps because we were not the rowdy drunken kind of clientele the crew so often has to endure we got a little more special treatment; but I really don't think so. These guys are true professionals- they love what they do and it shows!
We chartered the Mojito, a 47 foot catamaran which was perfect for our trip and size of party. I am sure a smaller party could sail on it for days and be perfectly comfortable and happy. But the best part was the crew; Alex and Jeff. These guys were fun, attentive, they were obviously very competent and they were focused on us having the best experience possible. They knew the waters and they were great guides when we got to St. Bartholomew. Honestly we could go on and on about them but the bottom line is we could've been happier.
I think the total price we pay to include tips worked out to about $300 per couple. A bargain for the quality of experience we had.
So bottom line is if you're in St. Maarten and you're interested in a cruise be it for a day or week you can't go wrong with Private Yacht Charters.
To PYA, I apologize for taking so long to get this posted but the day after our trip we had a family tragedy that ended our vacation early and I'm just getting caught up. But that is how strongly we feel about the experience, I never forgot I needed to post a review for you.
