“We didn't want to leave.”
Reviewed 28 June 2016 for a stay in May 2016

We stayed here for a week in mid-May. It was the first of three apartments we rented on our trip to Italy and, by far, the best. It's cozy, immaculate and very well-equipped. The location was ideal for us, and the neighborhood is typically Venetian. Shopping is nearby, and choosing fresh local produce off the barge (two blocks away) was a real treat. If you like to cook (as we do), you'll love this place! (It has everything you could possibly want.) Francesco and Nadia are wonderful, welcoming hosts. The worst thing about staying here was having to say good-bye.

“For art lovers; a perfect choice for the Biennale”
Reviewed 28 June 2015 for a stay in June 2015

We spent a wonderful week here, absolutely loved it. The location of the flat is excellent; very near the Giardini waterbus stop - oh! the joy of buses that float! - and a short walk to the main Biennale sites. A slightly longer walk gets you to all the other bits of Venice you want to see, too. And yet the street you overlook is quiet, more local families than tourists.
The kitchen was excellently equipped, and round the corner on the Via Garibaldi there are all the shops you need - a floating veg stall, fishmonger with lagoon-fresh catch, deli, supermarket, etc. And Francesco and Nadia have thoughtfully provided a cupboard full of dry goods and staple foods - pasta, rice, oil etc - so you don't find yourself eating the same pasta all week. Plus a bottle of Venetian wine as an arrival gift. Bathroom and bedroom were also clean and well equipped.
Communication with our hosts was excellent, they made us very welcome. (Their English is very good which was a relief, my Italian is quite rudimentary!) They have really thought through everything a traveller might need, and provided it. Highly recommended.

Liked best: The kitchen - excellent standard. The location.
Liked least: The mattress was a little thin. Not really bad.

“Fabulous apartment in a wonderful area of Venice where you can live like a local”

We booked a weeks stay at Apartment Garibaldi and were very impressed from the start of the booking process. Francesco was very quick to get back to us with info and prices and he gave us excellent advice about getting to the apartment from the airport. He met us at the Giardini vaporetto stop, walked us to the apartment and gave us directions to local shops and restuarants.
Everything about the apartment was perfect. It was light and airy with absolutely everything that you might need in terms of cooking facilities and utensils. There were also lots of cupboard essentials like salt , pepper, oil, pasta , rice etc . There was even washing powder for the washing machine! Francesco has thought of everything, even umbrellas and wellies so that you can cope with the odd wet day!
The apartment is in a very quiet residential area but only 15 mins walk from San Marco. After a day of crowds and hustle and bustle it was great to get back to the Castello area where it was much quieter and relaxing. All the locals we met going in and out of the apartment were very friendly and pleasant. You can live like a local, hanging your washing out on the pulley line across the campiniello , buying your wine at the shop where your take your own bottle and they fill it for around 2 euros a litre, buying your fruit and veg at the boat on the canal and buying your meat and fish at the excellent shops in Via Garibaldi (less than a minutes walk from the apartment).
I cannot recommend Apartment Garibaldi highly enough so if you are looking for a great stay in a friendly area at a good price, then Garibaldi is the one you should go for. I will certainly be returning at some point in the future.

“Live like a local in great real neighbourhood - still close to everything”
Reviewed 27 April 2014 for a stay in April 2014

Wonderfully set up apartment - Francesco has thought of everything - even clothes pegs so you can hang washing out like a local across the street. it's close to everything but in quiet non touristy area. Only thing it missed was wi fi but lots of nearby cafés with access.
Francesco met us at the water bus stop and was very helpful .

“Perfect apartment in a quiet part of Venice”
Reviewed 6 April 2014 for a stay in March 2014

My wife and I have now stayed in this wonderful apartment 2 year's running. Francesco who owns the property gives you a warm Venetian welcome when he greets you at the local vaporetto stop and then walks you to the property. The apartment has plenty of room for 2 and has all the facilities including heating, towels & linen at no extra cost. It's location is perfect being only a short walk to local shops (which include 2 supermarkets, a bakery, fishmonger and floating vegetable/fruit boat). There is also a good choice of local
restaurants. Yet is in a quiet part of Venice away from the hustle of the more popular areas. A very typical residential area of Venice where you know when the weather is fine the washing goes out across the alleys. Having said that it is still only 10 - 15 min walk to San Marco/centre of Venice or alternatively a few minutes walk to the local vaporetto stop which allows you to get anywear quickly. The links from the Giardini stop allow you direct access not only to the centre of Venice but it is only 2 stops to the Lido and also another quick route out to Murano, Burano and Torcello. The view from the Giardini vaporetto stop is still breathtaking regardless of the number of times you see it. This apartment would not be suitable for any one who is not able to negotiate stairs as it is on the second floor of the property.
