We booked a suite with a master bedroom and a secondary bedroom with two beds for the kids. It was fantastic. The chateau is wonderfully old with country french styling overlooking a slope filled with vines down into a valley. Gorgeous views, with Pomerol only about 1 km away and a convenient drive to St. Emilion. The owners (Virginie and Francois) live in a separate house about 150 meters away)
A big plus is that you're allowed free run of the kitchen (you have to clean) and they do have some availability on laundry (although there's only one washing machine and it's used for towels as well). Breakfast is baguettes, jam and croissants from a local bakery. There's a very nice living room and dining room for the guests' usage as well. We spent several very pleasant evening cooking our own meals and drinking wine with another couple who were staying in the chateau. You can't get a better French experience than having a lunch of baguette with delicious French cheese drinking a nice right bank wine while outside overlooking a local pond, the beautiful local church and vineyards all around
The house is old, sound travels far, but people who stayed there were very polite, no loud noises at night. The wine is great (although I'm no expert) and very reasonably priced. Francois will give you a tour if asked, and you can buy from the office at good prices. Value is fantastic for what you pay as well. If you're looking for a great Bordeaux experience, we found it to be fantastic. Friendly for kids too (as long as they sleep through the night).
