“Another wonderful visit”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 7 June 2014

Returning to this unique property for a one week break was again a wonderful and relaxing experience. As with our previous visit, Virginie(the owner) was on hand whenever needed and we enjoyed the space and freedom to enjoy breakfast in our own time. Enjoying a glass of Emeric's(the owner) superb wine whilst overlooking Petrus from the gardens of Tournefeuille is a real pleasure and totally unique. Tournefeuille is a working estate and you get to see and feel first hand the true spirit of a French winery. If only we could also bottle the view.

We had an amazing stay 4 night stay at Château Tournefeuille. Virginie, the owner, was very welcoming and made everything very pleasant and easy. We had a very enjoyable degustation of their wines with her husband, Emeric. Gorgeous views over the vineyards, so peaceful and calm.
We were able to use the kitchen freely which was fantastic. We ordered baguettes and patisseries from the local bakery which was really convenient. The hob was a bit tricky with one half of it being “induction” and the other half “normal”.
Beautiful, charming spacious house, tastefully decorated. One of the most beautiful places I have ever stayed. Highly recommended.

This chateau is in a gorgeous setting overlooking vineyards, forest and a pond. The inside is decorated well also. The are some oddities about the place though which make it seem more like a house rental/gite than a B&B. The owners do not live here and there is not any person around for assistance. We were given a key to the chateau and that was the last time we saw anyone. Nobody else was staying there. There is no telephone if you need to contact the owner. Our US cell phones didn't work there so we used Skype. We prepared our own breakfast from some yogurt left in a fridge and bread that was delivered in the morning. We only stayed one night so I don't know if anyone comes to clean the room but I doubt it. The beds are very firm and neither of us slept well. This place has huge potential but is not yet ready for prime time. It needs to be managed by someone who knows how to run a B&B.

This working vineyard/winery/chateau was probably the best place we stayed during our trip. Virginie was very welcoming and made our stay enjoyable--and made great recommendations for places to eat in St. Emilion. They even gave us a tour of the winery. Highly recommend.

A total gem of a location for wine lovers. The Manor house of Chateau Tournefeuille looks directly on to Pomerol and Chateau Petrus(whose vineyard meets those of Chateau Tournefeuille, just across a small stream). In the distance you see the Church of St Emilion, which makes quite a sight lit up on a evening. St Emilion is around a 10 minute drive from Chateau Tournefeuille and the town of Libourne with all it's amenities is just under 10 minutes by car. The Manor house is tastefully furnished and the bedrooms are decorated and furnished to a high standard, and were very comfortable. The grounds of the house are well manicured and ideal to sit out in and enjoy a glass of Chateau Tournefeuille's excellent wine of an evening, whilst viewing the vines of the wines origins. All the famous vineyards of Pomerol and the legendary Cheval Blanc are a manageable walk away from Chateau Tournefeuille. A unique experience in the most
beautiful setting, with great wine!.

We booked a suite with a master bedroom and a secondary bedroom with two beds for the kids. It was fantastic. The chateau is wonderfully old with country french styling overlooking a slope filled with vines down into a valley. Gorgeous views, with Pomerol only about 1 km away and a convenient drive to St. Emilion. The owners (Virginie and Francois) live in a separate house about 150 meters away)

A big plus is that you're allowed free run of the kitchen (you have to clean) and they do have some availability on laundry (although there's only one washing machine and it's used for towels as well). Breakfast is baguettes, jam and croissants from a local bakery. There's a very nice living room and dining room for the guests' usage as well. We spent several very pleasant evening cooking our own meals and drinking wine with another couple who were staying in the chateau. You can't get a better French experience than having a lunch of baguette with delicious French cheese drinking a nice right bank wine while outside overlooking a local pond, the beautiful local church and vineyards all around

The house is old, sound travels far, but people who stayed there were very polite, no loud noises at night. The wine is great (although I'm no expert) and very reasonably priced. Francois will give you a tour if asked, and you can buy from the office at good prices. Value is fantastic for what you pay as well. If you're looking for a great Bordeaux experience, we found it to be fantastic. Friendly for kids too (as long as they sleep through the night).

I highly recommend the experience of staying at this vineyard. The chateau is what you have always imagined a chateau to be. The rooms are very elegantly decorated and they have invested well in the beds - most comfortable bed I've ever slept in! The nearest restaurants are in Saint Emilion about a 15min drive away, however there is no need for that, we made ourselves a picnic style dinner in the kitchen and ate at the outside table overlooking the vineyard - it was beautiful. You help yourself to breakfast which includes lovely fresh croissants and baguettes delivered by the local baker in the morning. To top of the experience our host gave us an informative tour of the vineyard followed by some wine tasting. With the winery being just across a small river from the famous Pomerol winery it was good wine!
Thank you Virginie for a lovely stay.
