Went here a while ago and remember it as a great dining experience with an interesting concept around the wines. You are free to walk around the many crates of local wine in the centre of the restaurant to pick and choose. The food was well presented (parfaits in little jars, plates with little impressive details such as a salad with a memorable tomato mousse). Fit for Bordeaux.

We visited this restaurant for the third time on a Saturday lunch time. Previously we have visited on a weekday lunch time and have had a good meal for a reasonable price. This time the meal was not so good, particularly my starter, rouleau de crevettes, which was mostly shredded vegetables with a very few tiny crevettes amongst them. Other courses were ok but at 19 euros for 3 courses and wine and coffee extra, certainly not the best value around and not as good as it used to be. Still a different place to eat so will give them another chance next time we are in the area!

We already visited Comptoir de Genes 3 times. The last visit, we noticed that there were more tables than the previous years and so the concept loses a bit of its charm. Nevertheless, it stays very nice experience. Not everything on the dining-card is of the same quality, so choose carefully. The 'demi-cuit de foie gras' affined with a pinch of 'sel de vin' (served in a quite cute way, definitely is a YES. They also serve little 'tapas' you can share with your company... then you don't have to take a full meal and still can experience the atmosphere (with an exellent wine at a very good price) We would certainly recommend a visit.
Carefull : sometimes (in july we had to return without dinner) closed on sunday evenings. I don't quite understand that... al ot of tourists are visiting the region at that time.

Third visit here in 3 years and unfortunately it's lost a lot of what brought me back. Many more tables then there used to be. Expensive food for the quality, wine was cheap, as you'd expect.
Menu descriptions need some work, crab salad is 3 scoops of crab with mayo, a salad garnish with a load of onions?
Steak quality was poor for 28 euros. Wine was good but not good enough to justify the food.
Service was usual for France.

We were directed here by the owners of the B&B La Maison du Bourg in Puisseguin. It was an excellent choice! The food was delicious and the outdoor seating was lovely!!!
