First vison after the front barrier is a somptuous Castle with doves , swanw , big old trees ! It is like coming to Downtown Abbey with French Style
This young couple did a wonderful Job refurnishing each and single room and the whole house even . Rooms have all their own cachet . My preffered rooms are the "Roi Soleil" , the Blue one on the edge. All bathrooms are so big and beautiful!
We noticed that every single table, lamp, curtain are all chosen with delicate taste.
I really recomment a stay there even for few days.
we went in Autumn and I really want to go when we can use the swimming pool!
Good Luck to Chateau Lamothe
We cant wait to come again of course

We stayed in this chateau for a few nights in January 2014. Situated right in the middle between Bordeaux City and St Emilion, which is perfect if we visit these 2 places by car.

The rooms are huge with nice decor. The owner, Carla, is a very nice lady who is the most accommodating.

We love it!!

This place is fully deserving of its ratings. The rooms are decorated with a taste and style that fits the surroundings. If you want five star luxury without the generic, industrial feel of a high end hotel chain, then this is the place for you. Here you have large, spacious, authentic rooms that deliver complete satisfaction on every front.

It is within spitting distance of Bordeaux but in a very quiet rural setting with plenty to see and do close by. Its a great way of being on the doorstep of the famous French city without all of the concentrated urban hustle and bustle.

Service is as tremendous as the place and breakfast is nothing short of wonderful. Worth every penny!

There are several ways to experience luxury I suppose. One could live it up in a $5000 a night ultra premium hotel suite in Paris, or a sprawling beachside villa in the Bahamas.

Chateau Lamothe is neither of those, but as an exceptional holiday experience, it's pretty hard to beat! Set slightly incongruously in a suburban residential area, the chateau has a large enough estate and land buffer around it that it never feels anything but in a secluded countryside. The rooms are characterful with a mix of period furniture and some modern amenities. In the morning, a sumptuous spread is provided, with fresh croissants and pastries, and fruit. The pool was beautifully maintained with deck chairs and shade.

Carla, our hostess, works really hard at keeping the guests happy. We had some fun conversations with her, and she also graciously agreed to hold on to a couple of cases of wines for us after we checked out, until we returned at the end of our travel. She made some good recommendations for places to visit and eat.

It was a great place to spend a few nights and enjoy the experience of sleeping and breakfasting in a real chateau, and for a very reasonable price.

A couple of things to note. The estate does not have a restaurant on site, and is a little out of the way, so getting to a dinner place is tricky, especially if you plan on drinking. A taxi ride to St Emilion cost us 60E each way! There are no lifts, so if you are on the upper floors with luggage, you are going to need some assistance, which the resident groundskeeper provided.

All in all, a great and friendly place to stay with family and friends.

This is a fairy tale place to stay with the moat, the majesty of the chateau and the exquisite decor. The pool is fantastic. Staying here is like being in charge of your own piece of heaven. The hospitality is five star and the breakfast on the balcony is divine. Ask for a tour of all the bedrooms because they are the most beautifully decorated rooms i have ever seen. The location is brilliant between Bordeaux and St. Emilion and we had the great pleasure of watching the Bastille Celebrations and fireworks in both places. Take the recommendation of lunch in the local cafe by the river. The smoked salmon is delicious despite the modest surroundings.

Room Tip: We stayed in the least expensive room under the eves and it was still heavenly.

I rarely leave raving reviews; but this beautiful chateau deserves it. We spend a wonderful evening here in October. Our top floor room was nicely and authentically decorated in a country manor style with the modern amenities. We had a four poster king bed and slept very well. The proprietress was very friendly and enthusiastically answered our questions about this chateaux which her family had quite recently acquired.

The grounds were wonderful and we enjoyed feeding the white and black swans in the moat. Breakfast was very nice and had everything we could want (except eggs). It was very well presented and accompanied by a lit 5 candle candleabra. Quite a treat!

The price is quite reasonable for what you get so the value is excellent.

A must stay.
