I recently stayed at the Premier Inn hotel in Rainhill for five nights. The hotel is in a very nice area with an affluent residential neighbourhood. It all seems to be very calm and peaceful. Squirrels jump around the hotel's lawn. Access to Liverpool, Warrington and Manchester is easy by public transport, as there is a train service going to these places from Rainhill railway station, which is a fifteen minute walk from the hotel. I have stayed at many Premier Inn hotels over the years but at Rainhill the staff clearly stands out as they make you feel very welcome. There whole place has a very personal touch to it and is not as cold as many other budget hotel outlets. My room was brilliant: My room featured a flatscreen Samsung TV and some very comfy LED lightning. Bathroom was above Premier Inn standard. Everything was clean.
I would clearly recommend this hotel to anyone who likes to visit the North but wishes to avoid spending the night in one of the city centres - especially with the riots the UK experienced some days ago.
I only paid £29/night as part of the Premier Inn offers.
