We were returning guests, who have used this premier inn as a stop over before catching a ferry.
Initial problem at check in after having booked a family room but was allocated a double room leaving no where for our two young children to sleep. This was rectified quickly by a very apologetic and polite lady on reception.
The room itself was very clean with all the usual decor associated with premier inn. However even though the bathroom was clean it did look a little worn. Our room was Warm but we put our fan on when we arrived and did cool the room slightly enough for us to sleep. It was a hot day when we stayed so we're not expecting anything else however, it's about time premier inn invested in air conditioning.
Had a meal at the restaurant next door which was ok and also had breakfast there the following morning.

We would use this premier inn again even with initial problem. This is our second stay and we have been pleased with the standard and price on each occasion

We booked 2 rooms for myself, my husband and daughter to go to an open day at one of the nearby universities. Our stay was completely overshadowed by the terrible night's sleep we had. Both rooms had heating controls where you could increase the heat but not cool rooms down. One room was 27 degrees and the other 26 resulting in a night of no sleep. A small fan was provided in each room but too small to be of any use. Managed to get a second fan for each room from reception - but one of them had a broken casing and wires hanging out. We were aware that other guests were having similar problems as seen wandering around corridors carrying fans. Man at reception more or less just shrugged his shoulders - clearly had no idea how to try and remedy the situation. Windows locked at about half an inch so no air flow in the rooms at all. If this situation had been remedied we would have no problem in recommending this hotel - everything else was as expected and the waitress who served our evening meal was very helpful, friendly and informative.

Most other reviews are fairly accurate in relation to my own experience. Great location with a short walk to train station where you can buy a one day ticket which gets you into town centre and allows unlimited use of local buses, all for £3.70. Albert Dock full of places of interest. Hotel well up to Premier Inn standard, but why is free Internet access not free in this day and age?
Restaurant OK, But it's a good idea to book as it can be busy. To the reviewer who had a problem with unavailabilty of selected wine and who was offered a more expensive alternative: take a tip. Say it's too expensive and ask for a jug of tap water instead! You'll be amazed at what another visit to their 'cellar' will unearth.

Great stay this weekend at roby premier. We stayed with our 3 children all aged 5 to 11 and their grandparents as a family treat. The staff were so friendly and made us so welcome from reception through to restaurant. We will return thanks to their hospitable and friendly manner. A great place to stay if you are popping into Liverpool as the train station is a couple of minutes walk away. A safe and friendly hotel to stay in after spending the day at the Albert docks and the theatre with the family. Food was great. Just what we needed after a day in the city and breakfast was spot on too. Knowsley Safari park is a ten minute drive away and directions were printed off for us by a very friendly happy and helpful receptionist. The waitresses and waiters were very very helpful and sorted everything out for us. Roby premier have staff they should be proud of. Well done.

We booked this hotel after reading the reviews , the Hotel was very impressive from the outside, and the grounds were very well kept and parking was excellent, we found the hotel in need of some updating and was a bit shabby round the edges, the staff were pleasant and helpful, but the room was a disappointment although it was nice and quite, the heating was left on on our first night and we assumed the temperature was controlled by the thermastat on the wall and we had no sleep as the room was like a sauna, we contacted the reception who told us there was a switch to turn off !! we had to keep two fans on 24/7 as we only had two tiny windows that opened to about 3" so fans were on our whole stay of 4 days.Whilst we understand the health and safety on open windows it made for a very uncomfortable stay coupled with the beds which were extreamly uncomfortable, so while the visit served its purpose , we would not stay again and we were expecting nice comfy beds this did not happen.

Like so many of its counter parts this premier inn looks the same, and even smells the same. However the big thing that let it down was noise.
We stayed on the first floor near the Elevator and everytime someone on the floor above us moved all we could hear was squeaky floorboards. Granted we only heard this in the mornings but were up for a wedding and its not a nice sound to be woken to at 07:00.

However the staff were all very nice and they did honor their good sleep or money back offer.

Also the pub next door was really good for both food and drink with a really nice beer garden.
