Located on a busy, narrow road between derelict houses and over flowing garbage dumpsters the Hotel Galathea has its work cut out for it. Tastefully restored with a private jetty onto the water of the bay of Kotor you would be forgiven for thinking it was a place to unwind, swim and visit the local sites. The noisy, garbage strewn road and hoards of local holiday makers makes unwinding in peace difficult, a taxi has to be called if you want to visit the sites and the water is unsafe to swim in due to pollution caused by sewage and cruise ships. This is not what the hotel promises in the pictures. The hotel has no restaurant and on our third evening the entire family became violently ill after eating at a local restaurant called Fenao which was highly recommended by the hotel. So desperate were we to salvage our holiday we had to firmly insist to move to its sister hotel in Tivat without paying a penalty. Breakfast is very basic with low cost, poor quality products. Staff are friendly and kind but inflexible and unable to help. So much for the boutique hotel experience. This hotel is not suitable for families looking for a relaxing seaside vacation.
