This hotel is great, brand new installations, spot clean and perfect location. Beatiful infinity pool and jacuzzi. The staff was extremely friendly and went above and beyond to accommodate every need.
Food was exquisite and fresh every day. Very romantic too!
You won't want to leave this place ever!

We are so happy we added a land excursion to our Galapagos dive trip. Isabella is an amazing island with much to see. Iguana Crossing was a pleasant surprise. Fabulous boutique hotel on the edge of town, across from a gorgeous beach and marine iguana haven. With only 14 rooms, nice decor, friendly staff and wonderful location....I'd recommend Iguana Crossing to anyone staying on Isabella.

I only visited Isabela on a day trip, but I was pleasantly surprised to find such a nice hotel here. The Iguana Crossing seems to be by far the best hotel on the islands, with tasteful design and a luxurious feel to it. Certainly better than anything I saw on Santa Cruz, like the Royal palm or the Red Mangrove. The infinity pool and the public areas are amazing. The view right on the beach is that of a tropical paradise. It may get a little boring here, because the town offers few entertainment options.
The irony of this place where Darwin postulated his survival of the fittest is that it's visitors are almost entirely from the lower or mediocre end. Shorts, sandals, backpacks and all the other stigmata of the common travel hooligan abound. The worst are those who perceive themselves as eco tourists but are an olfactory and visual nightmare. Who will start promoting esthetic tourism? Then 90% of those tourists would have to stay home. I am disappointed by the low standards of tourism in Galapagos. As a better example of combining tourism and nature, the Okavango Delta in Botswana gets it right.
Anyhow: Iguana Crossing is the only place that a luxury travel will find acceptable on the Galapagos islands.

Iguana Crossing is an excellent hotel in an excellent location. In the front of the hotel is the beach, and behind, there is a great walkway to the Darwin Research Center. The staff is very professional - they go the extra mile to make sure that your stay is comfortable. The restaurant is excellent. We stayed on Isabela for 5 days and had the best meal there. The design and decor is modern and interesting. The pool was great - there is also a jacuzzi and bar on the rooftop where we hung out in the evening. When we left, we had a very early morning transfer. The hotel manager personally came and made sure we were awake, made sure that the car she had arranged for was there, and walked us out to say goodbye. I can't say enough for the level of quality and service at this hotel. The price is well worth it.

We stayed at Iguana Crossing in mid-March after the tsunami. There was no damage here. It is a beautiful hotel. The views from the front (air conditioned) room were stunning and the furniture (chaise loungers and couches) all contributed to a lovely ambiance that we enjoyed even after the sun went down when we wanted to read and relax after dinner. It was here also that we had the first of many delicious meals (a late lunch after we arrived the first day) looking out at the ocean.
The poolside is another great spot to just sit and talk, or eat, or swim in the refreshing infinity pool after taking tours and sightseeing. The deck chairs/loungers were sturdy and nap-inducing. Towels were provided and different colour towels were provided if you wanted them to go to the beach.
The decor within the hotel is first-class and the room was luxurious with a balcony where we could watch the sunset and be lulled into a state of relaxation by the sights and sounds of the ocean across the road. We did not feel inconvenienced in the slightest by the push-button shower control in the large, walk-in shower mentioned by other reviewers--it demonstrated an eco-conscious mindset. If you wanted more water--push again, if you wanted warmer water--keep pushing. No problem.
We were informed that there was no television service--it had been discontinued by the island cable service. Our response? Who needs TV when you have all of this breathtaking scenery and activities to enjoy!
Patricia seemed to be on-duty morning, noon and night and was quick to attend to our needs. The chef made the most delicious meals--his specials (chicken breasts in passion fruit sauce with mushroom risotto, for example) or your choice from the menu. I must admit meals were on the expensive side. We felt like splurging but it might deter others on a budget. We don't drink alcohol but even the Coke was $3.25. Again, we didn't mind--nothing like a cold soda over ice on a hot day.
I would be remiss if I didn't mention the lack of service we experienced at breakfast and address the issue of slow service that has been mentioned by other reviewers. The dining room is not in the direct view of the reception desk, and is closed off by sliding doors, and we were not sure we had been seen on a few occasions. The first day, there was no bread/buns, or butter or jam, or milk for the coffee or cereal at the breakfast bar and we felt we were intrusive to ask and in fact we noticed a staff member's eye-rolling. My daughter mentioned that this was the same person that she felt had been less than sociable with her in a past interaction at the reception desk. I'm pleased to say that this was the only issue we had and I think the rest of the staff were lovely and tried hard to make our stay a more than pleasant one. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

Dear MomDtr,

We appreciate the time you have taken to highlight all positive aspects in regard to your experience in Isabela through Iguana Crossing, still, we thank you even more to point out our flaws during breakfast and service attitude. We would like to inform you this happened right after the evacuation to the highlands of Isabela due to the tsunami alert and we purchase most of our goods from local businesses. Along with continuous training to our service associates we are determined to correct such issues.

Kind Regards,

Juan Daniel Gómez and Patricia Cajas

We stayed at Iguana Crossing for 6 days which included the day of the Tsunami. The warm welcome upon arrival was very much appreciated. The General Manager, Patricia and Manager/Chef Daniel both introduced themselves as did the staff. We had arrived hot and tired from our flight/trip from Santa Cruz and were met with a welcome drink and shown our beautiful oceanview room. That night Daniel, offered to cook a welcome meal for us of fresh tuna. Our 10 year old daughter proclaimed it the "best tuna ever!" After that she was Daniel's biggest fan. The entire staff truly work as a team - they compliment each other and acknowledge what each does well.

We had wonderful adventures each day around Isabella and returned each afternoon to a relaxing pool and great meal. The beach was breathtaking, and our daughter spent many hours playing among the rocks and watching the crabs and iguanas run. Patricia also arranged for our daughter to take a surfing lesson one morning - she had a blast and what a memory! Breakfasts were equally great including choice of eggs, fruit, breads and cereal along with a sampling of ecuadorian treats.

On the morning of the Tsunami, Patricia the GM calmly approached my husband to explain that our day's activities would be cancelled as there had been an earth quake in Japan and a tsunami was expected to arrive at 5:30pm. We were then requested to pack a bag and prepare to evacuate. Transportation would be arranged. She, Daniel and the team packed up food, blankets and chairs and other needed items. They forgot nothing! We were taken to a ranch in the highlands and spent the day sitting under beautiful trees in a gorgeous area.

At dinner time we were driven into town to a field where the community had set up stands cooking french fries, bbq, plantain fritters - all of which was shared witheveryone. The kindness and generousity of the community was incredible and fortunately the island itself sustained little damage. In short they made a bad situation a memorable experience.

Thank you to Patricia, Daniel and the staff at Iguana Crossing for a wonderful vacation - your hotel and Island are truly great - thank you for sharing them with us.

Iguana Crossing is a fabulous hotel in an extraordinary locale. Our ocean view room was gorgeous and the service was wonderful. Cristina oversaw the staff and no matter what the request, it was done quickly and graciously by everyone. The meals were terrific, with great juices, pancake, French toast at breakfast and delicious elegant dinners. While the shower timing was short, it was wonderful having that attention to the eco-system to try and preserve water usage on the island. This truly was a quiet and luxurious respite after very busy and active days on the island.
