The cool season arrived a little early this year and so did the rough seas! It's about a 45 minute full speed, wet and bumpy ride to reach this site. We made two snorkel stops and both were spectacular. The guides know where to find the wildlife, and the boat driver did an amazing job maneuvering in some very tight spots. We swam with penguins, sea turtles, sharks (BIG ones), and saw multiple colorful fish, sea horses, lobster, and sea stars. Fortunately the waters in the coves are pretty calm. There isn't much to do on Isabela, but this tour is definitely the best of them all.

The excursion to Los Tuneles was the highlight of our Isabela visit. You get picked up at your hotel or make the way to the shop and then after 45 minutes navigation with the speedboat you reach the underwater tunnels. The boats take up to 10 people but this is comfortable enough. During the journey our skipper sighted two large manta rays. At Los Tuneles you get the best chances of close shots of blue footed boobies in the whole galapagos. You can also see Galapagos Penguins, no need for a zoom lens as they are really close. After the visit and photos on the land side you get to do two snorkeling trips. Our guide Dario was excellent and spotted a pacific sea horse, a white tip shark in the first excursion plus if you are a good skin diver you can snorkel under the tunnels which is brilliant. The second snorkeling excursion is full of giant green sea turtles at shallow depths. Recommend to take sunscreen and a short wetsuit or a skin, we had o'neill thermo X long sleeves with shorties and an underwater case for our camera plus a DSLR for the land shots. You can see some of the shots here https://www.flickr.com/photos/interceptor121/sets/72157644403759400/ and some over under shots here https://www.flickr.com/photos/interceptor121/sets/72157644719557612/
You get a light snack for lunch with plenty of chocolates which is nice. The boat ride can be a bit bumpy but nothing tragic. Cost if you book direct is $75 as of May 2014

The tunnels are amazing! But the entrance is super sketchy, so go with an experienced boat captain. We went with Rosedelco, right down from the Casa de Marito Hotel on the main street in Villamil. The captain was amazing at handling the big waves at the entrance! They were also great at finding the animals and exploring the caves and tunnels. We highly recommend this agency. Dont miss the tunnels!

We were referred to Tropical Adventures with Fabricio and it was great! He was so great interacting with my daughter and always making sure she was safe. Carlos was our park guide and he was also our favorite guide of the month! The best combination of people and equipment.

We did the visit of Los Tuneles with Fabian Salazar and he is what i really call a guide! He told us stories about the places and explained a lot of things about the island. He knew a lot of things and while snorkling he showed us a lot of fishes (he told us the name).
The day here was really good and the landscape is amazing.
He work as freelance guide, so when you book your tour in the agency ask the name of the guide and if it's Fabian you wont be disapointed.
