Not just a "gem" but the whole Crown Jewels! Super accommodation and wonderful food - a totally enjoyable stay.
We're looking forward to returning.

My family enjoyed a superb weekend in a beautiful farmhouse set in a rural idyll . The room, breakfast and facilities were excellent and the hosts made us feel like friends of the family.I can not recommend this corner of Somerset enough to anyone who wishes to spend a holiday in perfect English countryside amongst such lovely people as Jenni and Ellis.

We stayed at this guest house in early August 2008. It is a wonderful house, built for the first Lord Portman in the 19th century. We found the location ideal for visiting National Trust properties in the surrounding area. The owners made us very welcome, the rooms were comfortable and stylish, and breakfast was excellent with local produce. We opted for the evening meal on the day of arrival and found it so good we ate there every night. The owners created a very relaxed atmosphere and were very helpful and informative. The house has a beautiful garden/ croquet lawn with views over the lovely countryside. We would certainly stay here again.

Have never felt so relaxed in a B&B. A lovely family atmosphere and a nicer family we couldn't hope to meet. Jennie and Ellis had clearly put a lot of work into restoring the house, which has a lovely warm earthy charm about it. The Garden is large and well stocked and cared for, with colour for just about all four seasons. The weather was kind enough to allow us to spend time in the Garden soaking up the sunshine, reading, enjoying a glass of wine and chatting to our hosts; who are really good company. We were even introduced to the delights of Croquet on their huge lawn. Seriously good fun!

What else to say? Lovely room, comfy bed, good ensuite, excellent home cooked food, surrounded by lovely countryside, easy access to major points of interest but just far enough from feeder roads to be out of earshot of traffic. Bliss!!

I have just arrived home today but feel compelled to spend 10 mins writing this review. Our 3 day visit to a beautiful part of the country was topped off by staying in one of the nicest properties we have visited.

The large property has been beautifully restored and has a lovely home from home feel. We had the pleasure of staying in one of the most comfiest beds ever(I now need to source one for myself). The views from the window were fantastic and there are some lovely local works in a very quaint and peaceful area.

Jennie and Ellis made us feel more than welcome and we came and went as though it were our own(if only).

Breakfast was cooked by Ellis using local produce and served in the dinning room overlooking the large garden which was in full bloom when we stayed which made for a pleasant stroll in the evening.

We hope we have reason to call again in the near future - I'm sure I can think of some excuse!
