We added Montacute House to our Jane Austen tour because its the Delaford in Sense and Sensibility, and we really loved the scenery in the movie. Montacute didn't disappoint. The house is fantastic and just full of history and the grounds are beautiful.

Visited this beautiful house last weekend, the gardens are nicely laid out the hedges are amazing shapes we thought they looked like the seven dwarfs if you look closely, the house is amazing inside lots of interesting things to see and read the long gallery at the top of the house was amazing, the volunteers certainly know there stuff, the cafe is also very good lovely stop to have a cuppa or lunch, car park has plenty of space

Every house tells a story but this whole area has iron age to recent times layers . The house itself is beautiful outside and the interior was furnished by NT. One owner gambled it all away. I walked to the church, along by the old abbey gatehouse and up the mount . It was all so peaceful and the pub by the church is very comfortable.I spent the whole day enjoying and exploring this village.

Visited over the bank holiday weekend. House looked great. There was a lot of available information in all the rooms. National Portrait Gallery exhibits in the long gallery particularly worth seeing.
We arrived early and had coffee and cake first. Restaurant was packed when we came out of the house.
One thing to note- we travelled in our motor home and the front gate was a tight fit! We had to fold back the wing mirrors and our van isn't that wide!
