Lovely B&B in a cute setting. Everyone was really friendly and helpful. Nice selection of food included for beakfast too. This was a lovely little find for us, just off the A303 but far enough away not to notice any traffic. The location is great especially if you like nice scenery.

Sunny day so decided to walk from Yeovil and hope we could get in for lunch.Went to the other pub in the village solely because geographically it came first. Staff were rude saying they were fully booked as we walked in the door. We didn't feel like staying for a drink in the beer garden. The Kings Arms was another story. Smiling young lady behind the bar. They were busy but we were happy to eat in the garden. Had a nice salmon and prawn salad and my husband had roast beef which he said was excellent. We will return.

Only stayed one night as booked in for a wedding close by, but would definately go again for a stay, didnt get to try the food except for a lovely full English breakfast (very good) The lunch and dinner menus looked very interesting. I would really like to go back and try the restaurant at some time. The staff were very informative and friendly and relaxed. the bar look fun but as i said we were out in the evening at a wonderful wedding so will have to experience the whole thing next visit. it would be a fantastic place to go for a weekend away. the owners are really lovely people

Room Tip: we had number 12 but friends had other rooms and they all seemed very happy

There are not many places where I have not stayed in this area since my work often brings me to this region - what a splendid surprise to find Derek & Katherine and their splendid staff at what has to be one of the most comfortable Inns within the vincinty of Yoevil. As well as a very warm welcome for my three day stay I was informed that if I wished to dine a la carte they would only be too pleased to accommodate my wishes - I certainly did get spoilt and I have to say at very moderate prices for both my food and well balanced wine list. And so to bed - each of the letting rooms certainly have individual character and I look forward to my next, not to distant, stay in this picturesque "golden" sandstone village. Lots to see in the area for adults and children - don't miss the Fleet Air Arm Museum its a must for all the family!

We recently stayed at the Kings Arms for two nights in order to visit Montacute House. We had visited before for an afternoon drink and enjoyed the experience so decided to stay .We found our hosts very attentitive and friendly as were the staff generally. The rooms were very well appointed and very clean and spacious. The bed extremely comfortable and the breakfast excellent.
Evening meals well cooked and well presented and value for money. We would not hesitate to stay here again and have recommended this hotel to friends locally. We thought that the current owners (Derek and his wife.plus barney) were under charging for their services and for what you get. Will return again when we can. Good Luck. Chris and Kathy Cornwall.

As a group of people who regularly lunch in Somerset pubs, we experienced the worst Sunday lunch here in Montacute. Having waited an HOUR for our booked table and lunch, the main course arrived on cold plates, the food was lukewarm, and cooled further whilst we waited for the vegetables to arrive. The portions were, in our considerable experience, meagre. The roast potatoes tasted like yesterday's heated up and were dry and tasteless. When we were asked if everything was alright, we politely expressed our dissatisfaction, and were kindly given the choice of a complimentary dessert. Here again, they were certainly not worth the £6 we might have paid. The so called french apple tart consisted of a tiny THIN disc of soggy pastry, with a few ultra thin slices of apple on top!

Having said all this, the pub is charming, the staff welcoming, and the location, in this lovely Somerset town, is delightful. We arrived with such optimism, but it was a real disappointment.

Thank you for your comments. We are sorry that you did not enjoy your Sunday lunch with us. It was an unusually quiet lunchtime and I am SURPRISED that you waited an hour for your table and lunch. Our Sunday roast, as is all of our food, is freshly prepared and cooked on the same day. I am pleased that our waitress responded to your dissatisfaction and offered you complimentary desserts, but sorry that you also found this disappointing. We will always listen to customer comments as our aim is to make dining with us a pleasant experience.

The Kings Arms at Montacute was the setting for a super stay to "see" in the New Year .We had a fabulous time .The warm cosy atmosphere of this old inn put us in the right frame of mind immediately .The party stated with silly games interacting with other guests as we sat at our tables. After our delicious meal we welcomed in the new year in the street listing to the ringing of church bells .Auld lang syne was sung with gusto ,we toasted with champagne and felt that there was no better place to be .
Later we retired for the night to a comfortable bed .A good nights sleep followed to set us up for a delicious breakfast of scrambled eggs and smoked salmon next morning .
Yes ,a very happy New Year indeed .

Room Tip: We stayed in the adjoining part of the Inn the rooms were small .There are larger rooms in the main...
