“Another hidden gem.”
Reviewed 14 January 2013

While we are staying three nights as a base for Nelson-Havelock surrounds, this little place is well located on the road 20mins from Havelock and 40mins from Nelson, but once you turn in you are no where near the road. Started with drinks on the deck overlooking the lovely surrounds with the forest and hills backdrop-perfect setting, followed by a perfect steak, then a brownie dessert to die for. This is a small family restaurant with good home made menu choices and service but best to book. Onsite accommodation as well.

“"Great Place"”
Reviewed 11 December 2012

I recently took a group of ladies out to Foresters Cafe for lunch. The food was fantastic and the service impeccable. Staff very friendly. This wee place is set just off the main highway in a lovely country setting, So whether it be just a coffee or a meal you must also try the desserts they are just devine..

“Wonderfully exceptional”
Reviewed 8 December 2012

I have driven past often but never called in. Today we stopped for a late lunch. It was a lovely day and the setting is wonderful with the neat and tidy chalets arranged across the beautifully maintained lawns and gardens.

Our welcome was warm and friendly and while the display case showed tempting fare and the menu was lovely, we were given some excellent alternative options to tempt even the 7 year old.

The wait was short and the food, all freshly prepared, was filling and delicious.

With such excellent food and exceptional service we will be back!

“Sunny oasis between Blenheim and Nelson”
Reviewed 31 July 2012

In this ex-foresters' camp the owners have rebuilt very pleasant motel units and opened a welcoming casual cafe. Home baking and good coffee, meals available with Sunday roast and other specials. The grounds are open and sunny, prices reasonable, hosts friendly. We will certainly call again. There are also facilities for small conferences or meetings.

“A cafe gem in a peaceful glen”
Reviewed 11 February 2012

We a so glad friends recommended the Forester's cafe to us. We had been staying at French Pass and is was the effect location for a stop about 1km on the right off SH6 toward Nelson.
Great coffee, lemon meringue pie to die for and scones, muffins, too. Delicious goodies.
Sunday roast was being prepared - we will call in for that next time.
The cafe is set in a very tranquil glade surrounded with gardens and chalet accommodation. We had a peek and very impressed with the stylish roomy accommodation - a notch above a lot of motels we have seen.
