“Just Wonderful!!!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 April 2014

From the minute you walk through the door, you feel like you belong and that you matter. Every detail is catered for, from the home-made baking to welcome you, to the enormous comfy bed. Netty takes really good care of you and we have yet to meet someone at the farm, who hasn't been back year on year. Riley (the dog) is a particular fave of ours and she lets us walk him when we want - a real home-from-home! needless to say, we've booked for next year already!!!!! Thanks so much Netty and family - Nicky and Shaun xxxx

Room Tip: All are gorgeous!

Everything about this b&b is really lovely. When we arrived fluffy hens were running around in the fields (we enjoyed their delicious eggs at breakfast). The bedroom was spotless and everything was provided, including bath robes. Nettie is the perfect hostess and we felt at home right from the start. Wonderful breakfasts using local produce and fresh fruits. We hope to return, if we can find a gap in the accommodation calendar! And Reilly the black Labrador was another friendly face.

Room Tip: We had the Hazelwood room and would ask for that one again. Views over the Vale of York and with the...

This was our second time at this diamond of a B and B, we have already booked our third visit and just know we will keep returning.

As previous comments have stated you feel you want to keep this place a secret, Nettie goes way beyond anything you could ever want in a B and B,your every need is catered for, this place is just so peaceful looking out over miles of fields, beautiful rooms with spotless en suites, the warmest welcome you could wish for, fantastic breakfasts with local produce and beautiful free range eggs from their own hens, and then you have the gorgeous Riley who we fell in love with on our first visit, it was so hard to leave after a fantastic 6 day stay, but knowing we will be back later in the year eased the blow slightly, THANK YOU so much Nettie, keep doing what you're doing, you can't improve on perfection !!!!!!!

This is such a gem I don't like telling other people about it but it should remain our secret, however whether you are visiting the York area, North Yorkshire Moors & Coast or simply wanting a break then you will not find a better B & B than Hazelwood. From when you first arrive, Nettie is the perfect host with tea and buns/cake in the parlour. The bedrooms are very clean and the beds allow you to have good nights sleep, The bedrooms have wonderful views. At breakfast again Nettie is the attentive host with a breakfast that sets you up for the day whether it's a full or light breakfast with the eggs freshly laid that morning from their own hens.
I could go on and on but if you have read all the other reviews then I can only endorse what they say. Having stayed at Hazelwood many times you run out of superlatives to say about it and Nettie.

Our trip to Hazelwood Farm was eagerly awaited because of the previous glowing reviews, could it really be as good as they all say? Well in short... YES!!

Nettie has thought of everything you could possibly want or need and you really feel welcome from the minute you step inside this beautiful B&B.

The rooms are beautifully furnished and clean and so well maintained its almost like they are redecorated between guests! You sleep so well on a gorgeous huge bed with crisp white sheets because the place is so peaceful. Its lovely waking up to the view across the Vale Of York!

The food is outstanding, tea and cakes in the parlour on arrival, home made biscuits in the room (along with the best selection of teas and coffee I have ever seen in a hotel room!) and breakfast is every bit as good as everyone previously has said!

We were fortunate to not only have the wonderful Nettie looking after us but also her lovely Husband Eamon who cooked our breakfast on the first morning and helped Nettie on the second. What a team they are!! The Food is well cooked and obviously first class produce.
Nettie has an amazing memory too and remembers what you ordered the day before.

We didn't want to leave this home away from home and will definitely be making a return trip soon!!!

* Unlike many we didn't eat in the Durham Ox we traveled a short distance to the New Inn at Huby where you will find Hospitality on a par with Nettie's and the food is just as good!

Room Tip: we stayed in the Hazelwood room but take what available as you wont be disappointed!!

Having read the previous 110 reviews (with all receiving 5 stars) you wonder what makes this place different from other B&B's. From the first few minutes there when all you can hear is silence, until the last when you are waved goodbye by Nettie...you realise that you have been somewhere special.

To fill in the gaps, the location is simply stunning. The views from our room (the Hazelwood Room) were just lovely. Luckily, we did have the best weather of the year also, but seeing the rolling fog along the Vale of York was quite something too.

The room was clean and tidy every day, with Nettie's added touch of homemade biscuits in the room. The bathroom had everything you would need and was also very clean. The huge bed was very comfortable also. The simple things like being able to have the window open at bedtime but not hear a single sound from the outside world, not even a distant road, is something you do notice.

The breakfast was also top notch. Nettie was ill for the first two days of our stay, but her stand-in, Eamonn, did a fantastic job and well worthy of Nettie's high standards. No request is too much bother, or even if you don't request at all. I'm not a keen egg lover, so my lack of egg was replaced by more bacon and sausages with no prompting from me!

Nettie and Eamonn's conversation and tips were very amusing but professional and never obtrusive. They really are a credit to their trade and have made their home such a fabulous place to stay. Needless to say, like many others, we're planning our next stay already.
