The Dutch House is a great place to go to, whether you want a short country retreat or morning coffee. The staff made us feel exceptionally welcome, and the combination of nature and the arts suits me greatly. A uniquely awe-inspiring location in an idyllic setting.

My boyfriend and I very much enjoyed our stay at the Dutch House when we visited the area for a friends wedding. Our hosts gave to us a warm welcome, were very patient with all our comings and goings (even at a very late hour!) and fed us well with a fabulous breakfasts and lunches. Lovely bedroom decorated with care, and we really enjoyed seeing the arts and crafts activities happening on site. Highly recommend.

Room Tip: We really liked our upstairs double room with adjacent private bathroom, with a view out onto the ga...

Stayed at Dutch House for 2 nights in April this year. The reason for our visit - a gift for my friend's birthday that also included a basket weaving course. Both the accommodation and the course were a great success. The B & B is really more like a self contained cottage with the added benefit of breakfast made for you. You enter through your own front door to a lovely snug for your personal use - with seating, table and chairs and a wood burning stove - this room was a particularly welcome bonus on a rainy weekend. The beautifully decorated, spacious bedroom can be made up as a twin or double and has tea and coffee making facilities and plentiful storage for a short stay. Everything in the room was of a high standard with quality bedding, towels and fixtures. The big bathroom is well equipped with bath and separate shower cubicle and the unexpected and welcome addition of pristine bath robes. The 'Dutch' breakfast was fantastic, fresh, plentiful and very tasty but we were offered a full English if we preferred - we went for the Dutch on both mornings as it was a welcome change. Cecile and Sjaak are on hand and when they say 'Let us know if you need anything' you really feel that they mean it. The gardens and artwork are another added bonus - as well as a basket we went home with a 5ft carved owl sculpture!! Fantastic value for money, wonderful surroundings and great hosts, can't recommend it enough and will definitely return.

The B&B at the Dutch House is much more than bed and breakfast - it is a chance to unwind and enjoy a magical rural ambience. The location on the edge of the Howardian Hills is indeed an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and is complemented perfectly by the relaxed atmosphere of the cottage. There is a natural style and sophistication to the accommodation and candle lit Dutch breakfast was an ideal start to the day. We appreciated the warm welcome and the attention to detail and look forward to returning.

I have visited Dutch House several times now, and it's a really beautiful place. The house provides a panoramic view of the area. Their own wild garden fits perfectly into the Crayke Hills.

The B&B room offers you a perfect view on the landscape and the tearooms courtyard. It's a very cosy and comfortable room, but most of all very tastefully decorated. Everything is in place and I slept heavenly. There's a private bathroom with a bath and shower and a lovely
entrance with fireplace and piano to relax. The surrounding area is very silent and the dawn offers a beautiful view. The tearoom is also a very nice and inspiring place to be with a very tasty menu and place to relax and chill.

Regularly there are exhibitions, every time from different artists. The owners don't hurry you and you can sit at a table or on the coach and read your paper and look at the wild garden outside. Every time I went to Dutch House, there was something new, like de 'living Igloo' for children or a new menu. I'm Dutch so I much liked the Dutch Stew (zuurvlees).

They work very hard, to make their dream come true by making Dutch House a special place with a mixture of arts and green. They have very specific and creative plans in what Dutch House eventually should become. I can really recommend you to visit Dutch House and
to stay for the night and see what effect their inspiration has on you.
