if you think the photos look nice wait till you get to the accommodation, we had the clover room, very welcoming on arrival with the log burner glowing in the fireplace ,late evening snack offered on arrival ,and yes all of the previous descriptions are spot on, certainly the best B and B we have stayed in....we look forward to staying again in the not too distant future..what more can one say....pick up the phone and book ! if you can get a room that is!
Thanks for a lovely 3 days Duncan and Jane and of course young rubyn.

I can only echo the previous favourable comments about this idyllic place and the super family that runs it. We too stayed in the Orchid Room and found it to be really comfortable and well equipped with the best bed we have slept in anywhere other than at home. Nothing was too much trouble for Duncan and Jane and we felt very welcome and cared for. Our one regret was that on the first night of our stay we ate at the local pub instead of trying Duncan's cooking which apart from being
excellent was also very reasonably priced. The breakfasts were superb and filled us up for the entire day. We went to Devon for an anniversary weekend and Hay Meadow Farm was the making of it. Thank you.

As very traditional British holiday makers we enjoyed the genuine and open handed welcome that Duncan and Jane gave us upon our arrival at the incredible 'chocholate box lid' thatched dwelling that they call home.

We stayed in 'Orchid' which is one of the upstairs rooms. It is one of the highest quality rooms that we have ever stayed in, cosy, comfy, individual and peaceful too.

We have already recomended this rural treasue to all our family and friends, because this couple, who have high principals of enviromental welfare, don't preach to their guests but have adopted a practical aproach of "This is how nice it can be done in a caring and enviromently sustainable way."

And it works!

My wife prefers not to eat too much meat and so the veggie and meat free dishes on the menu are very much appreciated.
For myself, a nice thick sirlion steak with all the trimings was order of the day, beautiful cooking and presentation plus very genorus portions.

Eco friendly, sustainable, vegatarian, organic, local purchasing, free range, home grown, fair trade plus other such like buying policies are much in evidence here. All of it was high quality and very enjoyable so even if you are not into helping to look after the planet pay them a visit to see how well you can live for a few days, and sacrifice nothing of your life style in doing so.

As a chef/hotelier with over 40 years experiance I can recommend this place to any one who is reading this review.

Room Tip: All the rooms are really nice.

Just returned from a lovely overnight stay at this beautiful b&b. We were made to feel very welcome from the moment we arrived by the hosts who are obviously very passionate about making it an enjoyable experience. The clover room was beautiful with the log fire and jacuzzi bath, alongside the very comfy bath! The breakfast was one of the best sampled and plenty to keep you going for the rest of the day. The surrounding area is so peaceful and away from any hustle and bustle. Really recommend a visit and hope to be back soon to see how this exciting project progresses!

We stayed at Hay Meadow as part of a retirement/birthday celebration. From the moment we drove down the drive and saw the building nestling in front of us we knew we were going to experience something special and how true that turned out to be. We stayed in the Clover Room where there was a roaring log fire - just the thing on a damp April evening! The bed was one of the best we have ever slept in and everything was of the highest quality. Beautiful bed linen for example, and not only a jacuzzi bath but a separate power shower! Both the evening meal and the breakfast were excellent. But the icing on the cake, so to speak, was the superb welcome and attention to detail from our hosts. Nothing was too much trouble and every effort was made to make sure it was an experience to remember. Even Charlie our Springer, had a wonderful time. Already planning a return visit, just worried it will get too popular and we will find it hard to book a room!!!

My hubby n I have just returned from a v relaxing weekend at Hay Meadow Farm. Fabulous cooked breakfasts; tasty local sausages, bacon, eggs etc, freshly juiced apple/oranges!, plentiful tea n coffee. Room was delightful; soft cosy bed, hot shower, quiet. Beautiful location; great star gazing - no light pollution. Friendly & welcoming hosts. Would definitely stay here again and recommend to friends.
(Don't forget the Sat-Nav - easy to miss the turning in the dark!).

Best place we've ever stayed at. Made to feel extremely welcome, nothing too much trouble . The clover room was to die for, log fire amazing. Food was excellent. If you are looking for peace and relaxation in gorgeous surroundings, where everything is top quality, this is the place to go, can't wait to go back and stay longer next time.
