“Tranquil Break”
Reviewed 30 March 2018 for a stay in March 2018

The chill of the unexpected early spring snow was countered by the warmth of the welcome from the owners, John & Anne. We stayed in the Garden House, which was beautifully appointed with en suite in both bedrooms. Amazingly quiet location set in endless acres [ or so it seemed ] complete with lake. Must come back when the weather is a little warmer!

“A Real Home from Home”
Reviewed 6 February 2018 for a stay in January 2018

My wife and I have just spent two weeks staying at the Garden House.
Firstly I would like to say John and Anne made us feel very welcome throughout our stay and their genuine sense of hospitality made our time at the Garden House feel comfortable and very relaxed.
The accommodation is nothing short of superb. We have spent over ten years visiting many holiday cottages and holiday rentals in the South West and John and Anne's accommodation beats everywhere else by a mile. The high standard and the quality of the finish within the cottage was truly excellent.
Thank you for a very peaceful relaxing two weeks. Hope you see you again soon.

Mr and Mrs Clegg.

“Relaxed and Chilled Out!”

Our stay at The Garden House was top notch and although only for 3 nights we had a superbly restful stay because we slept so very well in the most comfortable bed ever! It is hard to single out any one thing which made our short break feel special, it was all first class from the lovely location; the lakeside Summer House on a lovely sunny Autumn day; the well equipped, spacious kitchen with everything to hand that you could wish for; comfortable sofas and a super flat screen TV. A great selection of books to curl up with in front of the log burner was the icing on the cake! All important and appreciated very much indeed.

All in all The Garden House is to be recommended to anyone looking for a stress free holiday with comfort on demand. The fresh air system that John explained
and demonstrated, meant that the house had a change of air every hour as it was constantly filtering old air out and new air in to the property. Certainly smelled fresh everywhere in The Garden House and no lingering condensation in the beautifully appointed en-suite shower rooms.

We would return to Lower Winsford in a heartbeat because we too have a holiday let in North Devon and know what care and attention it takes to keep a property such as The Garden House in so presentable a manner.

“So worth the journey down the lane.”
Reviewed 25 September 2017 for a stay in September 2017

The holiday home was much more than the pictures had led us to believe on the website, everything was so tastefully done and to a high standard, with the added surprise of a lovely cake and flowers as a welcome present. The location was stunning with the grounds and lake to walk around and even a boat to row around the lake. The area was great for trips to the north coast of Devon and Cornwall, all of which was not very far. Plenty of places to visit Okehampton Castle, Bude, Bideford, Buckfast Abbey, and so much more. We would highly recommend this holiday.

“Quite simply the best holiday rental accommodation I have ever stayed in.”
Reviewed 11 September 2017 for a stay in September 2017

We stayed at the Garden House with a couple of friends during the first week of September. In terms of holiday accommodation, The Garden House is spacious, well equipped and very well maintained. Both double bedrooms have fabulous en-suite bathrooms, which is great for 2 couples travelling together. The location is quiet and everyone slept well (cider may also have helped....) The grounds and lake, to which you have access, were the icing on what is a beautifully made cake!

The hosts, John and Anne, made us feel very welcome and were most helpful when we presented them with a request following our arrival.

The location was great for us, as we took day trips north to Clovelly & RHS Wisemoor, south to the Eden Project, St Michaels Mount, Lands End & St Ives, east to Dartmoor & Brixham, and west to Bude and Tintagel. We didn't use any of the local village facilities, but there are papers, bread, milk and a pub on the doorstep.

As the title states, when taking into consideration the rental price range, this is without doubt the best holiday rental accommodation I have ever stayed in.

I would stay again and recommend it without hesitation.

“Absolute heaven in Devon”
Reviewed 21 August 2017 for a stay in May 2017

What a find this place is! The photos simply don't do it justice, everything is finished to the highest standard and the house is extremely comfortable and spotlessly clean. The homemade cake waiting for us was delicious and typical of the care our hosts showed us. John and Anne were the perfect hosts, unobtrusive yet available to give excellent recommendations for sites to visit locally. The grounds are beautiful and extremely well tended; our children had a whale of a time rowing on the lake and running through the garden. Our week flew by and we were all so sorry to leave.

You'll be very welcome back, Maxine. The broadband engineer is visiting on Monday and we promise the signal will be better for you next time. Glad though that you enjoyed the cottage so much you gave it 5 stars :-)
