We had a wonderfully relaxing time at Aard Oakleigh. It was close to Kilkenny and the countryside was gorgeous! Our room was clean and the gardens were superb! The room had everything we needed and our Host was very helpful and friendly.

We stayed at Aard Oakleigh for 3 nights in May while we were visiting the area for a family wedding.

We were a bit late in arriving after a few problems getting the hire car sorted at Dublin airport but we phoned ahead and were warmly welcomed when we arrived.

We were very happy with our room, it had everything we needed, tea making facilities, hairdryer, wardrobe and drawer space, comfortable beds, a nice big bathroom with an enormous bath and shower above. There was a large bottle of water which was very welcome. There was a TV though we never used it.

There is a very comprehensive list of places to visit and places to eat which is most useful.

The house is surrounded by lovely gardens, there is fresh produce growing there as well as flowers and it's very well cared for.
There is a very large lounge downstairs where you can sit and relax in large comfortable armchairs and enjoy the garden from inside if the weather is not so good.

Our hostess took our order for breakfast the night before and everything was ready at the time we said we would be down for breakfast.
Breakfast was really very good, there was lovely fresh juice, fruit, berries etc, grapefruit and also lovely fresh rhubarb from the garden, which was served warm and fantastic with yoghurt on top.
There was cereal and soda bread and lovely fresh scones. I think there was the option of porridge also.
We had the scrambled eggs with bacon in the mornings and it was very good indeed, the eggs were the lovely deep yellow of good free range eggs, served with a little garnish of chives.

The village is very nice and we visited Nicholas Mosse pottery and were glad we did. The pottery is made on the premises which is a converted flour mill and a rather large building next to the river.

Aard Oakleigh is a short drive to Kilkenny so quite convenient.

Overall a great place to stay and a hostess who is very experienced in the hospitality business and knows exactly how to make your stay a pleasant and enjoyable experience.

This was our first stay outside if Dublin, but not our first b&b experience.
June was reserved upon check in, but so were we as we were unsure of Irish customs. She offered cold water for our room upon arrival, showed us to our room & presented us with a detailed book of information about the b & b/near by attractions in Kilkenny...excellent town to wander around for a day!
Room was immaculate. Chilly in the fall, but electric blanket warmed things up quickly. Hot water shower was great. Woke to beautiful countryside view. Breakfast was filling: eggs/bacon/fruit salad/soda bread/scones & phenomenal rhubarb ginger jam! Absolutely loved Kilkenny & this was a great place to set up "base camp" although the road can be narrow @ times.

My mother and I stayed with June on Oct 5. This home is beautiful, with well kept grounds and a very warm feel. June went out of her way to wish my mom a happy 60th birthday. Thank you so much june! I would recommend this home to anyone. Nice easy first data drive from Dublin as well!

This was a great B&B. June was great and general had no complaints. It is somewhat secluded, which we enjoyed. Just to note, if you use a credit card, there is an extra 3 euro charge. I do not have a problem with this, just wish I would've known beforehand so I could've brought a sufficient amount of cash.

Lovely host, lovely room and lovely food. There was a great choice for breakfast, including fresh fruit salad and home-made granola. The room was very comfortable, clean and private with a lovely view over the surrounding fields. Thank you June.
