Arrived at Hoeven, wet and cold after a long cycle trip from Belgium, but soon found the Conferentiecentrum - an impressive building in it's own grounds. Was able to secure my bicycle outside, and then spoke to very pleasant and helpful reception staff. Directed to room on second floor, large double bed with very large en-suite facilities. Hotel't wifi system was not operation, but again one of the receptionists allowed me access to the hotels computer to plan the next day's cycling journey. Did not eat in the hotel, but found a Chinese restaurant about 300m away where the food was quite good. Unfortunately did not have time to use the hotel's bar. Had to leave before normal breakfast time, but again the reception staff assisted by arranging a breakfast pack, cheese, ham, bread, juice etc - very good. Very impressed with the helpfulness of all staff. Although the fire alarm sounded and guests started to evacuate the building at about 00:30hrs before the night porter advised that is was a false alarm, I really enjoyed my stay at this unusual venue and would certainly stay again if passing near to Hoeven,

This is just a great place to stay. The hotel is in a monestary with lovely grounds in the small town of Hoeven. The rooms are small but clean and adequate. For the business traveler it makes such a difference to stay here rather than the rather standard type of hotels we are all used to. The staff are very friendly and helpful. There is a good breakfast included in the room price but unfortunately they do not provide dinner (there is a bar open in the evenings). However there are a few reasonable restaurants within walking distance in Hoeven.

The hotel is located in an historical monestery, and this created a special atmosphere, the high corridors, restaurant in the former refectory etc. There is a spacious parking.
The staff was very friendly and helpfull. The rooms were small and not very luxurious, but everything you needed, was there and it was clean.
In the surroundings you will find opportunities for hiking, canoeing, indoor skiing, shopping, biking, swimming and much more.
And if you are interested in special beers, there is a possibility to buy some special beers there.
The price of the hotel was very affordable.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
If you are looking for somewhere unique and inexpensive to stay overnight in breathtakingly historic surroundings, Hotel Bovendonk is the perfect place. The high Gothic ceilings, stained glass windows, Latin texts and the beautiful chapel in the delightful courtyard are typical of the hotel. The listed building with its authentic library attracts mostly couples, retired people and those who want to contribute to the preservation of its heritage. Any profits made are reinvested in the building. That this can come as a surprise is evident in the reaction of a previous guest: “A beautiful building with a wonderful ambiance. (…) Going back in time. Television and wifi work well, but almost extra-terrestrial in such beautiful surroundings.” History and architecture You can learn all about the rich history of this historic property during a guided tour. The similarities between Bovendonk and the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam are apparent; not surprisingly as both buildings were designed by the same architect: Pierre Cuypers. Activities The hotel welcomes cyclists and walkers. The Fietsvierdaagse Hoeven, one of the largest four day cycling events in the Netherlands starts and finishes at Bovendonk. Those two recharging points for electric bikes therefore come in very handy. Musical performances, various activities and events of interest are organised in the courtyard. If you want to enjoy the culinary flavours in Hoeven or the surroundings, Bovendonk is the perfect base. The Basilica of Saints Agatha and Barbara in Oudenboschligt is just four kilometres away. You can take the Parelpad (Pearl Path) and wander past this smaller version of St Peter’s Basilica in Rome and other religious artefacts in Oudenbosch. And when you get back you can enjoy a healthy lunch, an intimate dinner or a pleasant drink in the Brasserie. Accessibility This three star hotel and conference centre - with a Golden Green Key Certificate – offers about 150 free parking spaces. Come and enjoy the magical ambiance and be inspired by the old seminary where to this day you can still follow a part-time training to become a priest… ... more   less
