We found The Boathouse to be a delightful choice for our overnight stay while we were in the area. It is in a beautiful, quiet location, which suited our needs perfectly.
We were pleased to be shown to a room overlooking the marina, which was comfortably furnished with a superking bed and a really powerful shower. There was also a small fridge and an iron and board which would be handy for longer stays.
Two things I would have liked in the room, would have been; blinds or netting on the window as there was a privacy issue when the curtains were open and a mirror above the dressing table where the tv was as it was difficult for me to blow dry my hair. These are just minor issues, and in no way would stop me staying again.
We dined in the restaurant in the evening and found the food and service to be first class. We both had three courses and reckoned it was one of the nicest meals we had eaten in quite a while.
After a good nights sleep in a comfortable bed with no disturbance whatsoever we had a stroll around the area before enjoying a delicious breakfast which was obviously cooked to order and piping hot. Look out, as the portions are mammoth.
Throughout our short stay, we were impressed on how friendly and efficient all members of staff we encountered were.
If we were in the area again we would definitely stay at The Boathouse again.

This is a very nice place to stay and ideal for long distance walkers such as ourselves as it is right on the canal linking Glasgow to Edinburgh. The welcome was friendly and warm. The food served in the restaurant was very nice as was the breakfast. The twin ensuite room was very comfortable. The scenery, peace and quiet was excellent along with the nearby garden of senses. I would certainly stay here again.

this is a fantastic hotel the food can not be faulted and the service is spot on.

I have stayed here many times and the location and the people cant be beaten but the fundamental thing needed from a hotel is a good nights sleep and you struggle to get that here as the walls are paper thin meaning you can hear everything that is going on in the room next door. As the TV's are hung on the walls you can tell what the person is watching even when you trying to sleep!!!!

I am sorry to say but i wont be staying here again

I booked this after reading reviews ,for our anniversary, and was very disappointed, We arrived and off to a good start the guy was really friendly and polite, we settled in and then went for a walk along the canal which was beautiful, Arriving back we went into get a drink have a seat and read the paper, but on sitting at a table for two, the waitress came over and said we could,nt sit there as we had to order food aswell !! my husband explained we were residents and was there somewhere else to sit .....she said we could sit out on the decking or our room, it was windy and cold but as the room faced the car park and there was just the bed to sit on that was out of the question, we went out and sat for 5 mins but it was just too cold ,on coming back in another member of staff came over as se saw us coming back in and suggested we sit at a high table with stools as this was now free, we did then went to our room,

We had a table booked for 7.30pm and it was very noisy and as there were two different parties ,with big bookings and a fair amount of children about, ordering a bottle of wine at £18 it arrived in a bucket with some cold water in the bottom of the bucket and a screw top and it was placed on the table and left,....not opened ,not offered to open it just left!!! The meal itself was good ,but we left earlier than planned and went back to our room as it just isn,t a relaxing expierence that we were looking for.

We do travel and have stayed at lots of different places throughout the years and are not hard to please and usually ,just take it and make the best of things but this was a real disappointment what I would say is go for a meal but don,t stay, sorry to say we won,t be back guys

We stayed at the boat house in Kilsyth when visiting the Falkirk Wheel and Stirling Castle.
It is a B&B with a pub but the rooms were a good size, very clean and well equipped.

Breakfast in the morning is served in the pub, which was very good and if the weather is fine then you can have it on the deck outside, looking over the marina.

parking is available, plentiful and free of charge.

Visited on our way back from touring Scotland, and it was perfect! Lovely situation by the water, so peaceful, and a super modern building with very welcoming staff which we have come to love after our week travelling all over the place. The food was fabulous! Fresh, nicely cooked and presented, and very appetising. Worth a visit!!!

We first went to the Boathouse in the Summer of 2012 and came away feeling underwhelmed.
A lot of money for not a lot of food.

Summer 2013 and we'd heard recommendations from other people who had recently been and handed us vouchers to go and try it. It has definitely been turned around.

We visited on a particularly sunny day with the entire outdoor area full of people (approx 140) eating and drinking. We chose to sit inside and the service was fantastic.
We were a group of 4 and I think everybody had something different and it all looked good.

I had the roast pork Sunday roast and can definitely reccommend it!

It was a great visit and vastly improved from our visit a year earlier. So much so we have been back since.....

Keep up the good work.
