We love our wee escape nights to The Boathouse, but left this time both thinking it could do with some TLC. From the sign to the rooms it feels a little tired.
Food was good and the service and staff were excellent as always. I did prefer the old menu and felt the new menu was towards the pub chain style whereas the old menu stood out as being different to most.

We booked for one night and the room we had was lovely. The bed was comfy and the décor was good - a nautical theme, but not overdone. We had supper in the bar and I had a lovely salad and a delicious "after eight" sundae. YUM. Breakfast was good I had pancakes & bacon & my husband had much bigger breakfast that included haggis & black pudding. I would stay here again. A gold star to the staff - they were very helpful and friendly.

We stayed here recently and loved the location of the hotel. The view from our bedroom out over the canal was pretty and relaxing. The room itself was very comfortable and spotlessly clean. The entrance and eating areas were modern and tastefully designed. The staff were polite and professional and a special mention must go to Fraser who couldn't do enough make our stay most enjoyable.

My sister treated me to an afternoon tea here yesterday. We cycled about 8 miles to get there and were really looking forward to relaxing on the deck. We both found the lady in the blue dress to be frosty and lacking charm; Maybe she was having a bad day. The tea itself, £40 for two people, was beautiful and very fresh. There was a lovely selection of cakes and sandwiches and we were both pretty full. We had tea and glass of champagne each. Unfortunately, no one asked if everything was ok or offered us more drinks. That was rather telling, I thought. We saw other people's food being delivered around us and we thought all looked fab. I'm now thinking that I wouldn't be too sure about returning due to the mediocre service. We'll see.
