Brockieside cottage was the perfect place for a quite, weekend getaway. Overlooking Kilsyth, the view was beautiful and the cottage was extremely cosy, well furnished and had every utility you might need. Peter was a considerate and kind host and made us feel welcome as soon as we arrived. We also enjoyed visiting the Boathouse restaurant beside the canal, only a 5 minute drive from the cottage. We would love to visit again in summer time and explore the area more!

We had a fantastic time at Brockieside. Peter Reilly the owner was extremely friendly, welcoming and helpful, and Heeruh the Border Terrier charming. The cottage is very comfortable and very tastefully furnished with everything you could wish for, with a lovely atmosphere which makes you feel immediately at home. Everything is there, computer, television, DVD, sound boxes for iphone /ipod, dishwasher, washing maschine etc.and a fantastic welcoming basket of goodies when you arrive. Well positioned it makes it easy to visit Glasgow, Loch Lomond, and Edinburgh as well as enjoying spectacular walks just outside the door. Kilsyth provides convenient nearby shopping facilities. Simply perfect!

“A wonderful haven”

Brockieside is a wonderful haven. Peter has done a very good job of making the cottage a warm and welcoming home away from home. It is a quiet and restful spot on the hill with expansive views over the valley. The nearest neighbours are sheep and cattle (the sheep may come for a visit if you forget to close the gate!) but you can still get into town within 10 minutes. We highly recommend this beautiful cottage.

“Lovely setting, fantastic views, quaint cottage well looked after by owner”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 August 2013 for a stay in August 2013

Had such a lovely time here and felt very well looked after by Peter the owner. In a quite unobtrusive way he made sure our stay was well catered for. Fantastic walks in the area. We recommend visiting the local waterfalls on Colzium Estate, Carron Reservoir for walks and sighting birds of prey and Palacerigg Country Park for lovely walking, seeing a variety of animals and good coffee. Entrance to all of these were free, added bonus. Local fish and chip shop in Kilsyth very good and The Coachman Hotel did good food, well priced and Huge portions! Lovely break from our busy lives, well rested when we left, thanks Peter
