Popped in one day when passing through one Sunday afternoon or a meal and quite frankly the previous decent reviews on here must have been by the owners' pals.

The place itself is ok but the staff are not trained with faces tripping them (poor frozen and cheap food) and the two guys that apparently lease the place? Well, one is sort of ok but the other one is as dour as they come! A wee bit complacent shall we say?

Before you try this place pop round the back of the hotel where you'll see nothing but waste bins right next to the kitchen door. Think about it....

Very poor.

We travelled down to The Coachman for a one night stay as my wife was going to a concert in Glasgow. Check in was welcoming and cheery, shown to our room which was perfect. Clean comfy and warm. Went down for dinner and were treated 1st class, the food was superb and the service was excellent, The atmosphere in the restuarant was ideal and the decor fantastic. Heard no noise from outside and had a front facing room onto the main road. All in all a fantastic stay and can't wait to return to see James and his staff. Top marks all round.

Stayed with 2 kids, and needed accomodation urgently for 2 nights. Easy booking arrangements and good rates. Very impressed with hospitality and service, especially attention for the kids, - made Dad's days a lot easier. Very impressed with the restaurant and the menu. Thanks to all staff!

I would definatley not recommend this hotel ever for christmas dinner. Total shambles service very very very slow we were sat at 2.30 we never got our order taken until 4.40. Staff were very ignorant, manager wasn't mush better. Dinner took too long to come. They charged 19.50 for a 2 year old child shocking. I wrote a letter of complaint 3 weeks ago didn't even bother to write back or acknowledge the letter and I know they received it as it was sent recorded. Even when in for lunch or dinner any other the time the service isn't that great very slow.

The staff were very pleasant and helpful, all except the person whom I assume to be the manager. I found him very unhelpful and resented when he implied that one of our group was telling lies about the claims the hotel made on its web site. The site claims that the hotel is an ideal place to stay for " a quiet weekend away..." this could only be possible if the guests are deaf. The problem is that the rooms are all directly over a very busy bar... need i say more?... the windows offer no sound proofing what so ever and the main road outside is very noisy ALL NIGHT, then there is the crouds leaving at the end of the night.
I travelled several hundered miles to go to a family funeral and had the return trip the next day, as you can immagine I was more than slightly tired by the time I got back home.
I will never considder staying here again nor would I advise anyone else stay here, I now know the reason for having to pay to stay before getting my room... once they get your money its TOUGH LUCK with no sympathy or appology from management.

We stayed at this hotel for a business trip. Firstly rooms were very clean but small, mine looked onto a brick wall and I could smell the kitchen strongly in my room. Even with the window shut I could hear the busy road and people outside plus people in the rooms next door. However the worst part of our stay was finding mouldy bread at breakfast, this really is unacceptable. On the plus side staff are friendly and the evening food was good (especially the deserts!!)

Went for a meal after the recent refurbishment, and wow! 6 of us had starter and main meal and 2 rounds of drinks for £82, bargain. Haddock chowder was superb as was pate. Garlic mushrooms juicy and garlicy with the soup of the day delicious and the nachos were like a main meal. Main meals and the macaroni was cooled to perfection as was the lasagne. Fish was 2 decent sized bits with chips n peas batter nice n crispy. Steak pie was filled with meat and a tasty gravy. The kicking chicken was delightful with it's chill dip mmmmm can't wait to go back
