Stopped off for a bite to eat as we were passing.place looked nice from outside and lounge/restaurant was comfortable. Firstly I asked 3 different waitreses what kind of soup was on the menu. None of them could advise. Ended up choosing nachos, which was a few tortillas with a tiny bit of melted cheese n salsa..very dry. Then onto the steak pie!!! What can I say? A dollop of potatoes and frozen peas beside a pastry toped dish of what was supposed to be stew. Meat was chuck and grey in colour and tastless. Waitreses asked how our meal was and I said it was the worst meal ever I had. (Bearing in mind were not that hard to please). She went to see whoever was in charge and they said there were no other complaints throughout the day, therefore never offered refund or anything else. Needless to say it was our first and last visit. Stay away!!!! Waste of money. ..only consolation was my husband said the lager was good....wouldn't recommend! !!!!!

Considering that we only paid £54 a night per room + breakfast for two this hotel was excellent value. We eat in one night and the food was spot on. Had we however paid more there would be a few niggles - the hotel doesn't do 'tabs' or put food drink on rooms but insisted on payment at the time. The other big grip was no Wi Fi paid or otherwise which is very restrictive. Owners need to re-visit their business model, definite improvements can be made.

Stayed at the coachman one night b&b. had just got off a flight and was looking forward to warm bath guess what no hot water! Not a good start.
But first some good points. Staff were friendly and attentive meal in evening was excellent room was clean with modern bathroom.
Back to down side. Best water we got was Luke warm, did eventually get hot water as we were leaving. Same with heating non existent through night came on in morning. Buzzing noise in bathroom came on every half hour all through night no good if light sleeper. We were in room one above front door, function on so door constantly banging and some noise from function.
Water and buzzing reported to reception but nothing done to improve matters.
Sounds bad but overall if not staying on function night and they get water sorted not too bad for overnight stop.

Stayed for a family wedding and very unimpressed. Rooms small and dated. We were up late but imagine with noisy bar right underneath the rooms, there would be little chance of a peaceful early night. Staff in bar and restaurant generally friendly, but overall little evidence of hospitality training. And £10 deposit for the tv remote! The Westerwood for us next time..worth the extra expense

Had an overnight stay at this hotel as it was the location of a friends wedding we were pleasantly surprised with our room, it was a lot bigger than most of the hotels we have ever stayed in and the bed was really comfy :-) The breakfast in the morning was freshly cooked plus there was cereal, toast, juice tea, coffee etc that you helped yourself to only down side we experienced was having to wait for about 10 - 15mins at reception to check in because there was nobody there and no bell to ring for attention but check in was fast when someone did appear.

We stayed here for one night only on our way back from the Isle of Skye as it was about half way, all we needed was a good night's sleep. Unfortunately we were not aware that we would be kept awake with loud music until 1am. Other residents were inconsiderate when returning to their rooms and kept us awake until 2.30am, needless to say sleep was out of the question!

The staff and food are brilliant, rooms basic

Room Tip: check for late night entertainment first

I travelled up from Liverpool, arriving at 10.20pm needing a good sleep. Very loud music until 1a.m. with D.J. the room was vibrating with the noise.. never again. Receptionist just about managed to book me in.. pay now.. deposit of £10 if you want the remote control for the television. Booklet re places to visit is for 2010-2011. Only hotel in Kilsyth.. what a pity.
