Seton Sands Holiday Park - Haven
Reviewed 27 June 2014

Booked an 8 berth caravan for a group of 6 between 23 and 27th June. Soon as we arrived, the caravan park looked well maintained and clean, staff where very friendly and helpful and gave us all the info we needed to start enjoying our holiday straight away. We opened our caravan and could not believe how nice it was, it was stunning inside and out, we had our own wee garden which during the day was full of wood pigeons and swifts and by night, a cloud of bats. The complex was very clean and great for the kids, with lots of arcade machines, a small jungle gym, garden connect four, boat table and pool in the beer garden. The inside pool was warm and clean and again the staff where great and allowed us to bring in our own inflatables. The night time entertainment was not our cup of tea, but we used the site as a base to explore Edinburgh, so we were not too fussed, plus the beach was brilliant for finding sea glass, shells and driftwood, so most nights we were beach coming and having beach fires. The restaurant onsite is maybe a quid or two more expensive than what I would have liked, I was expecting wetherspoons but was surprised to find quite high standards of the food. All served quite quickly. So I wasn't too fussed about the price once I saw the quality. The outside beer garden has beautiful comfortable and clean furniture and the sun we had on our holidays, felt like I was abroad rather in east lothian! My only gripe was with the full time tenants of the park.... not so much them but their kids/grandkids (all girls aged 12-18) who seemed to always be terrorizing the security guards and making the air blue outside the complex. Other than that, a brilliant stay and i will defo be back again soon.

Caravan we had was spotless and in quiet area of park perfect for our needs. Found park expensive for food and drink but got food off park. Our 8 yr old had a great time in the kids clubs, swimming and evening shows. Showbar is drastically in need of upgrading, chairs filthy and falling apart and was a stale smell in there too. We ate in restaurant for breakfast which was good as it was a character breakfast which our daughter loved BUT we had dinner there and our daughters pizza was served still frozen in the middle! We returned tgis and another meal was prepared with an apology, apart from this we had a great time.

Great base to explore the area and a very good bus service into Edinburgh. The restaurant was very nice and the fish and chip shop was adequate not the best but not the worst the children's facilities pool etc looked good, the shop however was poor and the site in general was not at all pedestrian friendly hardly any paths and although there was a 10 MPH speed limit it was not observed no sign of any security. Our second van was clean and comfortable but the first one we were offered was scruffy and not at all appealing unsure wether I would return or not and If I were to take my Grandchildren great care would be needed a lot could be done to improve the place.

Room Tip: Be careful

We have stayed at Haven parks before but this was by far and away the best. The bar restaurant area has just been refurbished to a good standard. The quality of food and drink was good. The reception staff were efficient, welcoming and friendly.
Our caravan overlooked the Firth of Forth so we had lovely views. The caravan was clean and more than big enough for just two of us. The park is well laid out and generally a pleasant place to stay.
There is a bus service from the park to central Edinburgh and the Zoo but if we ever return I would probably opt for the park and ride at Wallyford because the bus is very slow. There are several castles for sightseeing in the area and the pleasant resort of North Berwick is a short drive away.
One of the best caravan parks we have ever stayed in.

Just returned from a week at Seton Sands with my husband, son (2 1/2) and my mother in law. The caravan was clean and quite spacious for 3 adults and an infant although I wouldn't like to use at full capacity of 6!
The site is lovely and clean with a nice park (with thick wood chippings in case your little ones fall) and an indoor soft play area. The pool although small is a nice temperature and has a viewing area for non swimmers to watch. I do think the changing rooms could be improved - this is a family site and more family changing cubicles are needed.
The restaurant food was excellent and not too expensive and the showbar was good although was very hot when full (although the weather was very good while we were there).
There is a small Spar on the site which is fine for getting a few bits but we went to the local Co-op supermarket in Port Seton for our shop. Be warned though I believe the Onsite Spar closes at 5pm so if you are arriving late make sure you bring some essentials.

A clean and tidy site, well laid out with great entertainment for the little one and good walks for the dog.
The dog limited us to a standard plus caravan and we were surprised and grateful to find it fitted with an efficient heating system. The weather really made the heating a necessity. We are yet to visit Scotland and see the sun shine 2 days running.
The caravan was well equipped and well presented.
The location of the site is the only let down. The nearest shops and pubs are a good mile walk away, otherwise you are limited to the on site Spar and entertainment complex.
The beach over the road can only be compared to Otterspool promenade or the cast iron shore (anyone from Liverpool will know what I mean or just Google it).
The very regular bus service to Edinburgh stops right outside the site and for £3.50 you get a day saver ticket to use all day long.
The bus takes about an hour to do the 15 mile trip into Edinburgh and stops at every point on the journey regardless of passengers needing to get on or off.
To sum it up, if you want to stay on a clean site and make use of the facilities without venturing further then Seton Sands is for you. If you want a vibrant resort with plenty to do, then look elsewhere.

Stayed at Seton for a week last October, we stayed at lakeland a couple of months before and had decided to try somewhere new as we had also previously stayed in havens at sites in Wales, loved Seton staff couldn't do enough for you, so friendly and the bus stop right outside camp meant we could leave the car on camp & we didn't have to bother with trying to park when we went on days out, definitely recommend doing this if your going to Edinburgh, caravan was spotless and even though we'd booked the cheapest because we'd only just been away it was gorgeous and was only made that year (maybe they mixed us up with someone who had paid more lol) chippy is best ive tasted at a Haven camp, anyway going back for 10 days in August, worth the 4 & half hour drive any day.
