Stayed longer then intended, Breathtaking sunsets over one of the most beautiful bays in the island, found hard to believe how authentic and lovely the whole area is, warm and friendly hospitality by the lodge owners, highly reccomended.

Given the lateness (c.7pm) of our call to Whangaroa Lodge Motel, & the immediacy of our need for accommodation for 7, Whangaroa Lodge Motel was able to provide us with 2 very clean, homely, well-resourced rooms. To accommodate our numbers, Derek perservered with a faulty pump to sort out an airbed for us.There's everything a cook wants in a kitchen, furniture on the individual outdoor patio, luxurious bedding, a spotless bathroom & a helpful handbook outlining the motel & what's available locally. The self-contained rooms all have phenomenal views of the harbour, even if there's rain. The resident golden retriever (Emily?) added to the homeliness of the environment with her gentle, friendly nature; well-trained, she remained outdoors & only stayed for as long as she was welcome. A huge thanks to Derek, Emily & the team at Whangaroa Lodge Motel for awesome customer service! Our whanau (family) are all happily telling others about our stay in this little corner of paradise & agreed that we would return for a longer (planned) stay.

Room Tip: If you're a light sleeper, you may prefer an upstairs room.

Couldn't agree more with all the reviews, many thanks to the hosts for a wonderful couple of days in Whangaroa Harbour. Unexpected quality motel for a very good price. Beautiful linen, comfy beds, lovely views, well equipped kitchenette, very clean and great service. My 14 year old son and I enjoyed the long weekend and were able to take our small dog along too. Derek advised us of local attractions and we had a fabulous half day tour of the harbour and a spot of fishing. Came back with 3 fish and cooked one of them on the BBQ. Friendly peaceful little community with a whole lot of history. Don't forget to visit the church just behind the motel. Sit back and enjoy the ever-changing harbour views!

We stayed just one night between Christmas and New Year but would love to have stayed longer. This lodge is kiwi motel-style and not expensive. Our unit was spacious, clean and comfortable. The view is beautiful and you just need to walk down through the garden to the harbour, pub or Fishing Club where you can get a delicious simple meal. I was a bit worried that given it was peak season and very close to the fishing club and wharf it might be noisy but not so. It was quiet and lovely. Staff were friendly and welcoming.

Driving the scenic highway on the way south to Kerikeri in the early evening we came across the lovely little harbor of Whangaroa. Locals recommended the Whangaroa Motel and luckily we took the last room. Beautiful location up a steep road (45% incline) with a fantastic view of the harbour. The unit was spotless, elegantly furnished with a queen and single bed. It had a kitchen counter and bar stools, a modern bathroom and outdoor area with table and chairs. The unit had a full glass door looking out on the harbor and lovely gardens. Easily the most beautiful accommodations we had on our trip to New Zealand. The owners were warm and welcoming. The price is moderate and we would highly recommend this small motel.

Just spent a week in this wonderful area of NZ. The Motel offers very good value for money, the hosts are friendly and helpful. We couldn't fault the service and thoroughly enjoyed every minute of our stay.
We're already talking about coming back and can highly recommend this place to anyone who wants a truly relaxing and stress-free holiday!

We had a marvelous two nights here, off season in May. The unit was charming, comfortable, and spotless; the hosts very friendly and helpful. Thoroughly recommended, if you want something out of the way, very well presented, and central in Northland. Lovely outlook on the Whangaroa harbour.

Room Tip: Unit 5 is very spacious, with 2 bdms (queen, 2 twins) and a twin in the living area.
