“I like this place, a lot”

Good choice of lovely food, always well served. Nice atmosphere and if you like light aircraft you may see some coming and going from the airfield right alongside. Coffee service can be rather slow. It's not far from home so we visit here quite often.

“Great Breakfast place in Waihi Beach”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 June 2014

I visited the Flip'n Bear Cafe and Pancake Den during my stay in Waihi Beach. First time I ordered the pancakes with banana and strawberry. If you're expecting American style pancakes, that is not what you'll get. It's actually a crepe which was very nicely done and delicious.

Second visit I had the French Toast. These again were unexpected. It was two thick slices of bread -- between the french toast were thick slices of nicely cooked bacon and slices of grilled fresh bananas. It was accompanied by fresh cream, berry jam and warm syrup. Portions were quite large.

The setting is very nice too. There is inside and outside seating. I would recommend.

“A gem of a place”

Amazing selection of sweets and savouries including some Kiwi classics. Best coffee. Nice ambience behind an unpromising facade. Highly recommended.

“Cute Cafe”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 January 2014

I love this cafe, one for it's choice of food, two for it's coffee, and three for it's quirkiness. This cafe is always busy, it is also dog friendly. Sometimes the older man can be a bit "stressed", but the rest of the staff are great.

“Flip'n Good with a gluten free option.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 January 2014

Situated next to a small airstrip with a view of the hills this café specialises in pancakes, with a bear theme around the restaurant.Be careful...even the regular size could be shared by two! We chose the blueberry and banana, raspberry and banana and boysenberry gluten free pancakes. The raspberry was a bit too sweet and strong compared to the others. Coffee was of a good standard and even with a busy crowd we didn't wait long.. This café is tucked away very near the beach and when planes are coming in and taking off its entertaining .Newish magazines to browse was a bonus.
