There are not a lot of eating establishments at Waihi Beach, so when we spotted the sign on the street we thought we'd take a look. But, then we nearly didn't spot the gate to the Secret Garden - it really is quite secret! A sign on the gate invited us to come in, so we gingerly peeked through the gate and were instantly enchanted. A semi-wild garden with curved paths leading around to the tables, lovely music (a woman with guitar, busking), multiple choices for where to sit (on cushions, at a table, on a bench) and just one evening meal option - a platter. My favourite! Coffee, muffins and cake were also available. All the food and cutlery was bio-degradable and the wine served in small plastic clear cups. So, 'cheap and cheerful', but we had a lovely evening.

The gardens were just lovely - you can sit at tables or on cushions in huts - great stuff, only we found the coffee too milky with not much flavour even thought I asked for a double shot. Flys all over the food covers!

We were lucky to find the secret garden café as its not immediately visible. There is a shop out front and you go down the side pathway to the Secret Garden. It is magical and very much Bali themed. The coffee and cake were delicious too.

Wonderful hidden place. Good coffee. They got only some muffins and scones to eat but they let you get something to eat from the bakery across the street if you want. Very nice people here. Chill under a pagode.

This cafe must be UNIQUE!

Right in the heart of the Waihi Beach at the Wilson Road shops The Secret garden is an oasis of architecture and design straight from Bali. Individual draped coffee pavilions with cushions and surrounded by palms and other tropical vegetation it simply defies description. It has to be experienced to be appreciated.

Combine this environment with great Latta coffee and tempting muffins, brownies and other coffee food; plus great friendly service and you have an exceptional coffee cafe experience.
So next time you are at Waihi Beach treat yourself to a flight to Bali - The Secret Garden style!
