“Lovely meal”
Reviewed 16 August 2014 via mobile

I've visited the Plough Inn twice over the last few months.

Both times the food has been exceptional with a good variety to suit most people!

I would definitely recommend!

“Good experience”
Reviewed 16 August 2014

Lovely olde-worlde country pub in pretty setting with gardens. We turned up for an evening meal without booking and were lucky to get a table. It's very popular, so book at busy times. Friendly welcome and attentive staff. The food was of a high standard and very enjoyable. The Donningtons beer could not have been better. An all-round good experience.

“Excellent ploughmans”
Reviewed 23 July 2014

We visited for lunch on our daughter's birthday, not having been to The Plough for a few years. The food was every bit as good as we remembered - most of us had the ploughmans, while a couple had the chicken and ham pie. Everything was very good indeed. The ploughmans came with a good sized slab of creamy cheddar, some wonderful home cooked ham and a slice of pork pie, plus the usual pickles, salad and bread. Beautiful. The pie-eaters were equally impressed. It's a Donningtons pub so the ale (SBA for me) was of course excellent.

On top of this, the service was welcoming and prompt. Our kids are a bit older now but the pub seems to cater well for younger kids too. The setting is wonderful - we ate in the garden and found a nice shady spot under a tree.

So it was great - thank you, we won't leave it so long until our next visit.

“Not what I expected”
Reviewed 20 July 2014 via mobile

Booked a table for two to celebrate a birthday in a quiet, intimate atmosphere. Unfortunately this was not to be the case. We were seated next to a table of about twenty people, also celebrating a birthday. There was also a table of four, trying to enjoy their meal. The room was so noisy that we could not hear ourselves speak. The large party should have been in their own room & not in a room with smaller parties. We both ordered the sirloin steak medium rare. Although cooked correctly, both steaks were full of sinew and were extremely hard to cut. In fact my wife left at least half her steak, which at £19 was not a cheap meal to throw away. Finally, on receiving our bill we found that we had been charged for two drinks we had not ordered or drunk. The bill was amended and when we registered our disappointment at the ambience and the quality of the steaks, we received an apology and the offer of a free drink, which we declined, as I was driving, We were also told that the table of four had also complained about the noise. That table had already told us that one of the party had a fillet steak that was not good quality. Unfortunately it will be some time before we visit again.

“hungry!!!”
Reviewed 19 July 2014

YUM,YUM,YUM!!!!!!
We stumbled on this pub, we were hungry and not expecting this type of pub to be serving food all day, so we were delighted that it did!! and that we didn't end up in a chain pub.

A pretty pub, with a lovely décor nice, clean and Olde world, the garden was lovely and had the weather been better im sure we would have sat outside.

Our food was terrific!!!!, we had quite a wait for our it, but enjoyed the fact that the food was obviously being `made` and not re-heated, when it arrived we were not disappointed it was fresh and tasted fantastic, despite a passing thunder and lightning storm cutting off the power TWICE. we had 2 main meals, 2 deserts, a bottle of of wine and coffees and it was less than £60, Very good.....considering the wine was £19.99.

The staff are very helpful, polite and attentive so adding to the enjoyment of our visit.

We live in Witney, this means a 40 minute drive will take myself and my family back again.....it WILL be soon.

THANK YOU TO ALL THE STAFF...ESPECIALLY THE CHEF FOR A LOVELY PIT-STOP X X X X
