“Very basic!”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 August 2013

Stayed here for one night to be close to a relative. This hotel really has nothing going for it apart from its proximity to sports grounds. Very run down, there was a selection of mattresses strewn around the so called guests lounge! The only redeeming feature was very pleasant young man running the place, he seemed to do everything from check in to serving breakfast. Glad we arrived after the recent hot weather as you couldn't open the windows and it was still quite stifling. As other reviewers have stated the bedroom carpets were very grubby. Would never choose to stay here again.

Thought the carpets needed a good cleaning,(was glad I'd brought some slip-ons to wear indoors ) - beds were hard, & make sleeping really difficult. No air-conditioning. We had no night stands next to the bed, so no bedside light, & no place to put an alarm clock. No phones in the rooms, so mobiles were the order of the day. The staff were pleasant to deal with & helpful when it came to leaving our luggage for the day. Breakfast was ample & served with friendly cheer. Had to request a hair dryer, as they are not standard fittings. The location was ideal for cricket. Decor left much to be desired, some VERY BASIC (cheap) furniture & most looked like charity shop buys, but am not averse to that, except when they are not comfortable, or serve no purpose.

We stayed two nights. Nobody was on reception so we had to ring a mobile number pinned on the door with our German mobile phone (get refund after claiming that). The man on the phone told us to sit on the sofa until someone arrived. The rooms (one single/not en-suite, one double/en-suite) were on the first floor. All the time the windows seemed to be open because of the noise (McDonalds vis-à-vis) and the cold although they were closed. The single was not bigger than a storeroom and not a scrap of cosiness. The towels were thin, very small and more grey. The 'continental' breakfast included only toast, three different kind of jam and cereals. On the first morning the service lady was very unfriendly and brisk. There was no possibility to get more coffee/tea on the second morning because there was no staff. The dishes were dirty.
We will never stay there again.

My partner and I stopped here overnight en-route from Darlington back to Bristol. We arrived in Nottingham late in the evening not having booked anywhere. Jury's Inn was full and Premier Inn wanted £100 per night so we decided upon something cheap and cheerful. We were lucky to get an en-suite room (not all are) which was adequately furnished with a couple of Ikea items of furniture and comfortable beds. However, the decor was a bit tired with stained carpets, faded pictures and, it wasn't until the next morning, in the light of day that we realised just how much the bathroom really needed a good clean. The showerhead was covered in black mould (easily removed by hand) and the white pipework behind/to the side of the toilet was so disgusting that I wrote the word 'dirty' in the black dust to give the clear a hint! Ok for stag parties etc who may not be too fussy and for an overnight stop but wouldn't recommend if you're particular about cleanliness! Weatherspoons and a few pubs etc within walking distance and we had the best Indian meal ever at the recently opened Slumdog across the road, which we couldn't fault :-)

It is the ideal place to stop if you are going on for the night or nights in Nottingham, it is cheap, warm and the beds are good. Not all rooms are on suite therefore I wouldnt stop there longer than a night, but as I say its a bed for the night and for the price cant really complain.

Room Tip: make sure you ask for an en-suite room and do not be in the nasement rooms as they are cold and dark...

Nice little hotel, to stay in overnight, was cheaper at £42 for two of us with breakfast than it prob would have been to get a late taxi back home to Long Eaton after a works xmas party,it was clean and warm, not a big room but just enough to be cosy. The dining area was nice , bright and happy too,and we had toast and cereals with the offer of more toast had we needed it, a pot of tea and fruit juice.Would deffo stay again if i needed to stay in Notts overnight!
