“Stunning landscape, fabulous cottage, wonderful hosts”
Reviewed 25 September 2012 for a stay in September 2012

The countryside in this area is just outrageously beautiful ,and the farm sits right in the lee of the Black Hill. The view looking towards it from the biggest of the three holiday houses is just breathtaking, but the view outwards from the hill itself almost defies description. Walkers and cyclists will be in 7th heaven. Out walking on a weekday in mid-September, it was as though I had this whole part of the Black mountains to myself (the wonderfully-named 'Earl of Hereford's Knob', is a must!). I had the smallest cottage, Goose Cott, and it was just faultless, everything provided, including a washing machine and dishwasher! There's a free supply of wood for the fantastic wood burning stove, as much as you need. Hosts Ken and Ruth were the epitome of discreet kindness, helpfulness and warmth, and the farm itself is an amazing building in its own right. A week here is balm for the soul in a troubled world. Should be available on the NHS, cannot recommend it highly enough!

Independent and owner-run, we are always improving some little thing! Our self-published 'Historie of Cressewelle' has proved a hit with guests, as has a wifi booster taking reliable signal to the Goose Cotts and Granary ground floor. I think we can safely say that, although this summer's weather has been mediocre (to say the least), our outstanding location, great amenities on the farm and 'little touches' like well-stocked kitchens, bathrooms and storeroom have given our guests the best.

This rugged part of west Herefordshire is hard against the Black Mountains, un-manicured by modern life, and full of character. We can't help sharing our enthusiasm for it, nor our enjoyment of our visitors. They find that, winter or summer, rain or shine, there are places to visit, things to see, and always a snug home at Dukes Farm to return to.

We're lucky to have 130 acres of heavily wooded farmland to harvest firewood from, so we usually light a fire for guests' arrival, and always offer unlimited dry harwood logs for their stay. It's all included in our prices.
