We had the most fabulous time and felt sad returning home after an enjoyable week. Absolutely stunning location with panoramic views all round. Both Ruth and Ken were very warm and welcoming with an open door policy. Our Poppy (Yorkie) was no match for Percy the cat in a boxing match- never seen such large boxing gloves for paws! Loved nearby by Hay-on-Wye and The Bridge Inn at Michaelchurch and further afield, Ludlow and Malvern. We spent three enjoyable evenings at the farm, 3 fields up and 3 fields over exploring for the ancient burial cist and weren't coming home until we found it. Phew- we opened a bottle of fizz to celebrate our find. Ruth now knows the exact location, but we will not tell. Enjoy.
Our group of 6 recently stayed at Dukes Farm while attending the 2018 Hay on Wye Writers’ Festival. The owners have clearly put great thought into the details that make a stay comfortable , and we would all recommend, or even better , stay again if we are lucky enough. The location is breathtaking and I only wish we had had more time to read the history ( provided!) and walk the area. Fingers crossed we get the chance sometime.
We've been coming here for years, having fallen in love with Duke's Farm and the area on our very first visit! It is so perfectly situated, you get absolute peace and quiet and the most amazing views and scenery, yet you are within an easy drive of Hereford, Abergavenny, and Hay-on-Wye. Spectacular walks from the front door, or within a short drive. Offa's Dyke Path, Hay Bluff, and Twmpa are right on the doorstep. You can drive right into the heart of the Brecon Beacons as well. On this visit we stayed in the Granary, and it was cosy (lovely wood burner and under floor heating, perfect on the return from a long walk), really well equipped and a joy to stay in. Plenty of good pubs in the area (eg The Temple Bar Inn at Eywas Harold). Short hop from Hereford on the train (20 mins) to Ludlow, beautiful little town with lots of nice eateries, amazing old buildings, and lovely riverside walks. As always Ruth and Ken were the most delightful hosts, we always look forward to seeing them, they're so friendly, welcoming and full of useful tips and good advice about the area. We've already booked for our return visit later this year, such a great place to recharge the batteries, coming from London.
