Overall a disappointment

Review of Hotel Bosco

Where to begin. This is one of those places that looks so much better in the photos than in real life. Nice exterior. Nice hallways. Nice towels. Decent beds. That’s about all I can say for the Bosco. It bills itself as a “boutique hotel.” This implies a certain ambiance that the Bosco lacks. The rooms are poorly lit. Turn on all the lights and you still have a hard time reading print. Furnishings are cheap and inadequate. There are no drawers in which to put clothes for a longer term stay. There is no suitcase support. The minimal coffee and tea service are in the closet, although the machine is on a desk. There is no refrigerator or microwave in the room, so again, bad for more than a day’s visit. Water easily leaks from the shower onto the floor. The bathtub needs a user’s manual. In 8 days, I didn’t have it completely figured out. Stepping out of the shower is positively hazardous, as the floor is lower than the base of the tub, and the tub sides are high. There is no handle to grab onto either. Maid service in the rooms is not thorough. Glasses were not replaced. Nothing was really tidied. The air conditioning had two settings - off and blasting, and the thermostat didn’t appear to work properly. For those who care like me, the blackout shades did not live up to their name. Sun poured in in the morning, waking me up. There was no luggage cart to help me with my many bags, and the manager needed a bit of prodding to help. Finally, the room was really small. Management was nice overall, but there were too many problems to justify another stay.

Room Tip: If you are interested in seeing central London, do not stay here. There is no tube stop.

Great location. Couldn't fault it. Room clean and spacious (Rm 301), small balcony, air conditioned, walk in shower.

Waited ages for someone to answer the front door. Rooms were NOT quiet as requested. Rooms v tired. Only 1 glass and bottle of water between two of us. No hot water in Bath tap of 1 of our rooms. Noise level from bar til 1am at a very unhealthy unacceptable level. My dietry requirement was not met.
We checked out after 1 night of no sleep. Hotel refused to refund us for the night stayed. Have spent 4 days of telephone calls to get refund for the night not stayed. Rooms not worth £100 let alone 145!! Not exec standard. Shocking customer service. This hotel needs inspecting and in need of a face lift and staff training!!

      Room tip: Stay elsewhere

The hotel has a very good location, that's the reason I always stay there on my trips. However, this time my experience was far from perfect. Two nights of five I couldn't sleep because of parties in the lounge that took place on Friday and Saturday until 1 AM. My room wasn't cleaned properly: the coffee machine was not cleaned after I used it, and the pads for it were not added. The towels were not changed even after I put them on the floor. They just took some of them and did not add the new ones. One day there was no hot water for a few hours in the morning, which can happen (everyone understands it), but the staff should apologies for it afterwards, and they didn't do it.

Overall I like the hotel so it's a pity that it becomes worse than it was previously.

We had to book a room very quickly on same day due to family emergency so weren’t holding out much hope of getting anything decent. How lucky we were to get a room in this lovely hotel. Room was beautifully decorated and super clean. Very comfortable bed. Continental breakfast in the lounge had everything you could ask for and more and staff were friendly and helpful.Nothing was too much trouble. Location on the high street was good and having parking was great. Would happily stay here again

We stayed over a weekend in room 203. We could hear the music from the bar but it wasn't so loud that it was disturbing. If you are very noise sensitive bring some earplugs. Everything about our stay was excellent. Great continental breakfast. The area is nice, quiet and safe with lots of coffee shops and restaurants around.
