Spent a week-end at The Gallivant Hotel. For American readers, imagine a road side Motel that aims to be noble. Some rooms open to the parking lot, others to the hallway. Try to get a room on the north side, one with a small private garden. Walls are thin, we heard neighbors' activities, and not just the flushing of the bathroom. They forgot cleaning the room. When you arrive you're asked what papers you'd like. When you check out each paper is charged individually. Breakfast was included in the rate. When you check out you find charges for green tea or for an espresso because green tea is considered a luxury product. Never mind the menu does not state that at all.
The restaurant offers good food, albeit priced as if you were dining in Mayfair. Service on Friday evening stopped precisely at 1030pm, and I mean by the minute and it included all service. Breakfast buffet could have a wider selection.
Nice location, though. Just opposite the beach on a road that is frequent by cyclists and car enthusiasts alike during week-ends.More
