This is a nice establishment with hard-working staff. The rooms are well designed and offer most of the facilities you'd expect; the restaurant and bar area is very well designed and the menu and wine list is well put together. The staff are doing a good job but they're being let down because the hotel needs a bit of re-investment as the initial build quality is now a bit tired in some places. Overall, it has all the right ingredients to be a great restaurant-hotel but there's a little refinement missing. Because of this it can be considered a little over-priced.

Dear Joshua M, thank you for your feedback. The entire public area recently underwent a multi million pound renovation so we can only imagine your are referring to a couple of the bedrooms. After a very busy summer we are closing for lunch on Tue and Wed so we can tidy up and 'tired' spots. Best wishes Harry

Really enjoyed our time at The Gallivant. The hotel is small and cosy. The staff were very attentive and went out their way to help us. The food was well presented and the policy to source it locally made for a wonderful meal. The accommodation was recently modernised and the decor was pleasing and had a feel of contemporary luxury. Short walk to the beach over the dunes was fun.

Loved the room and all the amenities: comfortable bed; bath in the room from which one can sip (local) sparkling wine, read and watch tv. Dinner was good but not memorable.
Breakfast was mostly great, but one incident weirdly spoiled our whole impression of the place. I asked for a piece of black pudding with my breakfast; I was given it. It wasn't very nice so I didn't actually eat it. And then on check-out, we found we were charged £1 for it. It's such a stupid small thing, but we were left feeling the service was all a bit petty. And this was on top of paying quite a lot for the room and dinner.

Dear fs001, thank you for your review and your mostly favourable impressions. I am sorry you didn't like the black pudding, it's something that can be quite subjective. More importantly it's very difficult to know how to respond about your comments on being charged for it. It is part of the full English breakfast so if it wasn't and you then subsequently asked for it then it shouldn't have been charged for. If however you just asked for some black pudding by itself I can see why one of the team would have charged you for it, she or he wouldn't have the authority to give this to you, sorry about that. Very sorry if this marred your whole experience, I am sure it could have all been sorted if you had said something at the time. Best wishes Elise

Nice hotel for a yoga retreat, good location, great food, great teacher. Just a couple of problems with service, slow to replenish food/coffee at breakfast. Very comfy room. Very good massage. Shame there is a busy road between hotel and beach, and large sand dune to climb (but guess that is another point for the fitness!)

Dear TrishMac_12, thank you for your feedback and it's great to hear that you liked the 2 day yoga retreat so much. It was very popular as you know (next yoga retreat is Sun/Mon 28/29th October). Sorry to hear we were slow to re stock the breakfast table, we are working on this. The road is busiest at around 8.30am and 5.30pm, however we wouldn't ever call it busy as Camber is only a very small village. Large sand dune, enormous sandy beach, yes! Best wishes Elise
