The cabins are located approximately 1.5 km off the main road up a very rough track which can be accessed by a 4x4 or on foot. There is only a very small town with a few shops and restaurants near this junction. If you've got your own 4x4 then fine, otherwise getting around will not be easy.We stayed for 3 nights and remained in or around the resort, soaking up the incedible birdlife, butterflies, monkeys and other creatures which are plentiful, not to mention the active volcano in the distance.Simply lying in a hammock on the porch of the cabin for a few hours was a hugely enjoyable experience, and not something I would normally do at home. The meals were very good althogh choice was limited to two set meals (meat or veg). However you must remember there are only about 8 cabins. There is no mains electricity but we found the solar power adequate.Bring a torch to get around at night though as there is limited lighting.Be prepared for the odd snake basking on the grass near your cabin or ants even venturing inside it as you are so close to nature. The gauze covered window frames mean you can hear every shriek or sound at night. It was a great experience.

Room Tip: There are approximately 8 cabins. We stayed in Guanacaste which had a great view of the volano and su...

Stayed at Totoco Eco-Lodge for a couple of nights and it was fantastic! Martin was a great host, the food was great, the lounge area was very comfortable and the pool was very nice. Rooms were very comfortable and the bathrooms were beautiful.

The sunsets on the island were stunning!

The cabins are nice and peaceful and the views are beautiful. It's a good spot for couples to get away to, but the food is pretty mediocre and expensive. Plus the hotel is located up a long, bumpy road and taxis are very expensive which makes day trips or eating at other places difficult. It was nice but not really worth the high cost.

Ready for an adventure? Put your 4x4 into low gear and drive up the rock road (rocky road doesn't describe it) to jungle paradise. Rooms are super clean with comfortable beds and nice linens. The grounds are immaculate and beautifully planted and maintained. The tasty meals are limited in selection but that makes sense from an ecology point of
view. The kitchen/wait staff are sweet and good intentioned but largely inattentive. I don't want to ruin anybody's good time and I do think people should have fun at work but these ladies sometimes need to stop the incessant chatter and let the guests enjoy the quiet of the mountain. The owner is interesting and seems to be doing many things right for his customers, his workers, the environment and the community.

Nice swimming pool, clean and large villas with all amenities, very eco-friendly design and mindset and on top of the that, one of the most breathtaking view of the volcano on Isla Ometepe !
The dirt road to reach this little paradise is awful but once you arrived in Totoco, you will definitely enjoy a relaxing and unforgettable time ! The luxurious wildlife is perfect for birdwatching and the different cottages are quite far from each other so will definitely have your own privacy.
I did not try the food in the restaurant (I brought my own and cooked in my cottage with friends) but the drinks are good and relatively cheap.

Booked a villa with friends which was just perfect. It had a small jacuzzi at the top where the sunset on the volcano is unforgettable (although the lack of walls could be quite dangerous at night if you have small kids or very drunk friends). The kitchen is spacious and fully equipped, and the rooms are huge and clean. The dry toilet does not smell ! At night the bugs are hyper active, but that's on the whole island. The tiny road to get to the lodge is quite rocky, be ready to bounce!

Room Tip: the slightly more remote villa for 10 is a bit more walk from the center and restaurant but perfect...

Pros:
- Breathtaking view of Volcan Concepcion!
- Swimming in the pool with a view of Concepcion and Lake Nicaragua!
- Went in early July and there were butterflies everywhere. No where else on our two weeks in Central America did we see so many butterflies in one place.
- Bar drinks were cheap (and strong!).
- Service from Erik was excellent.
- Our room was very large and well-suited for our group of three.
- Composting toilets were fun and different. Don't let the idea deter you from staying here.

Cons:
- The property isn't well-maintained. It could use some TCL. This was my biggest gripe.
- Service from the staff other than Erik was marginal.

We only stayed for here for one night. That was enough for us, but we tend to be very "go go go" on vacations. The only place we stayed longer term (4 nights) was Jicaro Island Ecolodge. Now that place is a dream. If you plan to go to Granada, stay at Jicaro, and you won't be disappointed.

Room Tip: They seem to have a really big, two-story unit in the back, which is where the old owner used to liv...
