Description: The George is an award-winning, traditional, dog-friendly, family-owned and operated 17th-century village pub. We serve fresh food prepared from local ingredients, including local meat, game and foraged foods. We grow our own veg, herbs and fruit and make our own ice creams as well! We are renowned for cooking fresh fish and seafood from the south coast -- some say our scallops are so good they are "to die for." And our locally reared meat is mouth-wateringly good. We have two craft beers produced exclusively for us, three other guest ales and eight local ciders. With a lovely beer garden for the summer and a log fire in the winter, families and dog-walkers are always welcome. We have four en-suite bedrooms for b&b and a multi-purpose self-contained function room and skittles alley. But most of all there is "... ALWAYS A FRIENDLY WELCOME."

We stayed at this B & B and had a wonderful, warm & hospitable welcome. The bedroom was comfortable & we had everything we needed. We were able to choose our breakfast menu (all fresh & cooked to order). We also had a fantastic Sunday lunch - no wonder this pub is so popular, so glad we booked in time! I heartily recommend the food, friendliness & cleanliness of this place. We hope to be back soon!

this pub has a great selection of real ales, and a very warm welcome. We were too late for food, but the menu looks inviting.
We'll be coming back

Popped in to check what time dinner was served and told up to 9pm but as long as we were there by 9.20pm we'd be ok. We turned up at 9 and were seated in the dining area, although you could eat in the bar area. We were brought drinks and menus by a great member of the team. The chef popped out and was laughing and joking with us. We truly felt really welcomed. We had a starter and main course. We didn't make it to dessert as we were so full up! We took some photos of the starters but had eaten most of our main before we remembered we'd forgotten the photos!
The service was great, the staff really welcoming, the food was delicious and when we went to the bar the local people drinking there were friendly and chatted with us.
Definitely worth a visit.

Saw that this pub is a main entry in the pub guide and decided to try it last Sunday lunchtime whilst in the area. We only wanted a quick snack and this was no problem, the Landlord welcomed us warmly and found us a quiet spot to sit in a very busy pub. Had a prawn sandwich and pate and toast, very tasty and the Sunday roasts looked very good too. Just how a good food pub should be and hope to return before too long.

As what seems to be the only pub in Croscombe now, this place is not resting on it's laurels. The staff are very friendly and attentive and take good care of their patrons. The menu had good variety, with extras on a specials board. Both of our meals were lovely and prices were average for independent pubs in this area. We wouldn't think twice about returning if we're in the area again, and would recommend to anyone staying or passing through.
