Marrickville Pork Roll would have to be one of the best places to get fast, delicious and great value food in Sydney. $5 for a pork roll, the ingredients are all fresh, the baguette crunchy without being hard on the roof of your mouth, the pate, chilli and mayo balanced and flavoursome. Yes, the 'pork' is not the finest quality meat you'll ever see, but for me that's part of the experience and you can always get chicken instead, which is better quality. A Marrickville institution, a must if you're in the area.

Come here for Sydney's No1 cultish Vietnamese Banh Mi Pork Roll. My friend ordered the the classic pork banh mi roll. After taken the first bite, my friend declared the long crisp bread roll was amazingly crunchy on the outside while the inside was airy and fluffy.

The pork roll was generously filled with sliced Vietnamese pork, devon ham, pate, pickled carrot and onion, lettuce, tomato, pickled daikon, shallot, coriander, mayonnaise and drizzled with the banh mi soy sauce. It was only $5!

Hole in the wall joints, pop up this and burger that - It's great to see a flourishing of dedicated eateries and food related ideas. Especially suited to on-the-run and budget eaters, these snacks are convenient ! M.P.R. has hit the nail on the head, serving a belly full of cheap and colourful ingredients out of a doorway at the rate of 2 per minute ....

But ! if you're giving 5 star reviews, you need stop comparing them to school lunches. Celebrating the mediocre is doing Sydney a disservice. I can remember 3 other places within a 4km radius that do a better roll. But why even compare to Sydney ? We should be making comparisons to Bahn Mi in Vietnam, after all, that where Bahn Mi is from; and if you did, M.P.R. would be working the bus station tuck shop. The first sign of short cuts is the bottle of Maggi MSG they pour over your fake pink coloured sausage, your processed gluten made with pig ears and snouts. I'd eat spam before I'd eat that.

M.P.R. is pretty standard. The Bahn Mi bar is low in Sydney so to call it the best, you must have the munchies or you definitely need to travel. Try 2 places on Enmore rd or take a plane to to Saigon and get Bahn Mi Huynh Hoa and Hoi An for Bahn MI Phoung - the latter, In my opinion, the best in the world - if there ever was a best

It's a big call and it's true. It's the best. The constant cues are proof and the amazing flavours confirm it.
My personal fave is the chicken. Well worth the brief cuing, and it is brief as the staff are super fast.

I have tried this pork roll place several times and each time I'M not sure what the fuss is all about. It tastes like a pork roll. I had the BBQ pork roll its nice but wouldn't line up for it - as they do. its $5 cheap lunch/brunch or early dinner as they close early.

There are several places making pork rolls in the area, that are just as good.
