Great food (the home-made Eton Mess is to die for!), man-size portions, friendly and efficient service, good atmosphere, and an expertly-kept pint. All this from a village pub. Magnificent - one of only a very few pub-restaurants I can recommend to others with confidence.

To return to a restaurant following a great meal often, in my experience, results in a degree of disappointment, but not so a second visit to the Sportsmans Arms. Three of us enjoyed a superb lunch here, and again it was tremendous value for not a lot of money.
I can personally vouch for the seafood pie and Eton Mess. I have a good deal of experience of both, and while the seafood pie was up there with the best of them, the Eton Mess was in a class of its own. There's a lot of talent evidence in the kitchen, and the landlord knows how to keep a good pint.
Will it be third time lucky? I'll let you know after our next visit, which has yet to be arranged.

Great meal with very tasty locally sourced ingredients. Seriously big portions, giving fantastic value for money. Coffee delicious too. Friday night is steak night; Wednesday night is curry night.
Recent menu change giving even more choices.

Had a lovely meal at the Sportsmans. Generous helpings, service with a smile and reasonable prices. Bit more choice for non meat eaters would be good.

Top marks for the Sportsmans Arms: for the quality of the food, generous helpings; hospitality, keeping a great pint, and all-round value. We will return – and soon.
